My brand new bike is an 06??

Hi All

This is my first day posting as just taken delivery of my brand new Triple. But the new Zard that I ordered for it will not fit! So after searching the forum I have discovered that I have got an 06 bike!! Delivered in October 07!! The last digits of the VIN are 6278983

Now, should I be worried about this?

Thanks for your help

Mike

if it were me, my concern would be with the dealership if the bike is an '06 model all the while they were selling it as an '07. were you under the impression that the bike was an '07? make SURE what year the bike is. there are many left-over bikes being sold but usually at a discount because of the deppreciation (sp?) factor.

My 05 was manufactured in 04. You can buy a brand new 05 model today, and have the full two year warranty. Interesting thing this year model thing is. If your familiar with "insurance age", the concept isn't so strange.

You shoulda paid a big time left over price man. If you didn't I would go back and raise hell a bit. Get em to throw you some parts or something, you did them a favor by taking an 06 in late 07, they need to return that favor.

I think if the dealer sold you a 06 as a 07 he could be in some deep legal problems if you raised the issue.

I have spoken to the dealer who has admitted it's an 06 model. Apparently on their website in the used section but I clucked on the new bikes link when I made my enquiry. They just omitted to tell me it was an old model.

I did get a deal on it but I need to check the paperwork when I get home as I don't think it was as good as it could have been if I had known.

I am just a bit hacked off because I have purchased new parts that don't fit. And now I know it's an 06 model it's really starting to bug me. I feel like I have been mislead.

They tell me that they got it from Triumph 4 months ago so it's still quite new (I guess) but just an old, out of date model.

I am not quite sure what to do now. I bet I could get the same deal on an 07 spec bike.

I made the dealer go out of his way to make SURE my 2007 truly was a later 2007 because I wanted the new and improved ECU. I had been reading the forums for weeks prior to purchasing and found out a lot about the bikes first.

Take a look at the purchase paper work. What year do they have your bike listed at? Also, the Triumph Warranty booklet, third paragraph down on page one, states that a "Warranty Registration label has been affixed overpage". Turn to page two and you will see two blocks, the first being for the dealer stamp, and the second for the Warranty Registration label. Triumph allows for a label or a computer print out of the factory registration. Either of these will have a 'product range' entry. the product range entry has the country sold in and the model year. For example an 07 bike would be listed as:
USA (49 STATES)-2007MY.

X 2 like i said, make SURE what year the bike is and then look at the paperwork. if the paperwork indicates that it's an '06 and YOU SIGNED IT then it would probably turn out to be a "he said, she said" pissing match. then the only thing the dealer could be accused of is his crappy integrity....and if that's the case they ALL would be A$$ deep in trouble. hopefully you can work it out through the dealer if it turns out the deal/paperwork is legit. if you can prove that there was deception then i can see your bike wearing all the trimmings from the accessory catalog...

Angry

Paperwork only states registration date of 13/10/07. 06 is not mentioned anywhere.

The Service/Warranty book does not have a sticker or place for it so I guess it's different in the UK.

I did get the bike cheaper but thought I had just haggled a good deal on a new bike and never even thought it would be an old model. It came from a very well respected main dealer. And, to be fair they do seem good. Maybe it's just an oversight on their part as I can't believe a salesman would do that on purpose

Anyway, I will let you know the outcome.
