red hot headers

have any of you ever noticed this.
i was holding my bike around 3k rpm in neutral listening for
an engine noise and i noticed the header pipes coming out
of the engine were glowing red/orange. when i let off the
gas and let it idle normally, they went back to the normal color.
did it several times and it happened everytime.
this seems weird to me

Can't say I've ever noticed anything like that in daylight, only at night.

You ought to see the Rocket III's pipes in a dark garage at the end of a ride. You can read by the light from those...if the print is large enough.

It's the freaking SAI fart generator! Especially if you kept the revs steady to enjoy the popping for a while.
Air is fed to header -> leftover fuel burns in pipes -> pipes heat up -> you get the picture.

That is if you are running correct fuel map for your exhaust?
