it helps. this water crossing did claim several vehicles, including an Escalade and a Tiburon. Sadly the Tiburon’s cold air intake sucked up the river and totally waterlocked the engine.
This water crossing was just one component in a 250 rally in central Iowa. The second annual 2030roadrally to be precise. A charitable event where all manner of classic American muscle, exotic European, and otherwise cool and unusual autos (plus motorcycles for the first time) compete in a chaotic road rally starting and ending in Des Moines, Iowa. The rally route is technical, and navigating alone on my triple was really tricky. Myself, and the gent on the z1000 also pictured, completed the rally to the surprise of everyone involved. what didnt surprise anyone was the fact that we both were penalized severely for excessive speeding, but its all in good fun.
Not to sound like a cheerleader, but this is a great event. its organized in a way to allow for serious rally competitors, or just serious fun. Its a cross between a race, a scavenger hunt, a mobile car show, and one helluva party. on top of all of this, theres thousands in cash prizes for the top 5, and the event raises big money for a variety of worthy causes.
if any iowa riders troll around this forum, i would encourage you to check this event out, and help me prove that its not only possible to rally with a motorbike, but its also possible to win. If trends continue, next years rally is going to be huge, so come on out.
here is some early media to come out, more professional stuff is still being edited (this event was 4 days ago)
here is the official site that will be updated as next years rally is developed
