Manual Headlight On/Off Left bar Switch on EBay UK
Heads-up - came across this switch on EBay UK - they are hard to come across these days. Should be straight plug-in for most Triumph applications. (but not the 05+ Speed Triple)
I have this on my SpeedTona - nice feature to have to be able to turn off the lights.
£25.00 is approx $50 USD

just wandering why you would want to turn off your headlights? I mean you can do what ever you like, but I like anything that makes me a lil more visible to the morons on the road. Thats why I run with my high beams during the day.

I don't & am not advocating to run on the street with them off!
Useful tool for maintenance. Also being able to not have the lights come immediately when you turn on the ignition (even though the circuit actually inhibits the lights when the starter is pressed for maximum power)
Personally, I use Tuneboy & it is nice to be able to run the bike & readily shut the lights off.

The reason I posted this up is have seen many interested in previous posts about these & they don't last long when they become available. You clearly don't subscribe to that & that's fine but I never understand why people challenge what others might want to do.

I have it, and
I went by a cop doing radar on Memorial day, going a bit too fast I thought. He didn't pull me over, and a mile or two down the road I realized I had the switch in the off position. Gotta remember to turn em on!

As small and inefficient as the battery is in the Speed Triple, I would LOVE to have a switch to turn the lights off on my bike, if only just to start it ....If I go a few days without riding my bike , the battery is hardly enough to turn the motor over to run .... If I had the switch , I would not have the lights draining the battery for the initial starting of the bike ...With both headlights coming on as soon as you hit the switch, and both lights on continually , the alternator in the S3 should really be stronger, or the battery should be bigger , or both ....Jim

Nice to have a switch to keep the lights off when starting the bike and having it idling while working on the bike or while it is warming up. The charger doesn't do much till the revs are up.

Just so no-one is under any misapprehensions, the lights do turn off when the starter button is engaged but of course are on as soon as ignition turned on, then again when the starter button released.
However I agree with the comments in the two posts immediately above.
It's not necessarily something I use frequently but just nice feature to have that capability for the maintenance etc. - it can easily be left in the 'on' position which replicates the standard behaviour anyway.

Not according to the schematic - there is actually a change-over relay on the 05+ bikes (separate relays on the pre 05's) and the power going through that relay goes to either the starter or the lights, can't do both.

I don't have the schematic to hand so can't verify right now, but you may be seeing the parking lights - I don't recall from memory whether they are also switched during the starter operation, but categorically the main lights/starter share the same relay & powers one or the other, cannot be both simultaneously.

That is why you cannot even pull the fuse to inhibit the lights on an '05+ for maintenance - the same fuse supplies the circuit for lights & starter power.

Also note my earlier comment, the manual light switch cannot be used on these bikes.

I take it all back! (first rule - admit when your wrong lol) so sure was I that the lights were on when cranking I have just braved the rain and a crap night to go to the garage to try it, you are right its just the park lights that remain on. The mains still glow by virtue of the fact they were hot and generally the engine starts so quick they are not completely cool!

Just to make you smile I'm writing this looking sideways at the screen as I can see anything head on now after being blinded by the light ! (isnt that a song)

Ric :-)

ps Do you have the schematics electronically, would be very useful?
