Speed on a warm day?

Hi all

Just about to pull a trigger on a Speed. I have one question - when stopped at lights or in very slow traffic, does the 1050 engine become really hot? I get its an engine...but...

My previous bike:

Honda Hornet - slightly warm, nothing abnormal
Guzzi V7 - no issues
2010 Street Triple - slightly warm, nothing abnormal
Tiger 800 - Furnace

The Sprint ST is known to get very warm but is that because of the fairings?

If the fan turns on it's a little warm because its blowing on you, but I've ridden for long periods of time in 90 plus and didn't find the bike's engine (even stopped at lights) to provide all that much (full gear in the sun is enough). Also, in winter I never really feel like the engine does much to keep me any warmer either.

I will say I had a tiger as a loaner once and could also really feel the heat of the engine, so comparatively the speed (to me) was waaaay better.

If you are worried about it overheating, it will be fine, I sat in stop and go traffic in NC where it was 95 and sunny for 30-45 minutes and had no issues there either.

Go for it and buy the speed, you won't be disappointed.

My '12 has never had all the temp bars filled. I'll get to where they are within one or two of the top, but never all the way there.

I live in San Antonio and it gets hot here in the summer, but I will say I've never ridden it in over 100° heat.....because I might melt! I try to get back home before the temps hit 90 - 95 at the worst.

Now...that's normal riding, and normal stopping at stop signs and stop lights. I'm not talking about extended waddle/parade time here.

Any bike will feel hot on a warm day. Just, some are worse. The R1, at least the older models were horrendous. So hot, that my riding buddies would take their feet off the pegs. This is with leathers! Same with the older FJR.

I live in California, so I do lane split. But, on the hot days, when I'm at lights, or in heavy traffic, she does get quite a few bars. But, in almost 9 years, she's never over heated or made me want to take my feet off the pegs. Also, like Fly, I'm not a fan of the heat, when it's over 100, I prefer to drive, or better yet, stay at home in the ac with ice water.

Why would a 800 Tiger generate more heat than a 1050 Speed Triple.
I've owned a Tiger and now have a Speed Triple. No difference as far as I can see.
The cooling system on both biked keep the internal temps the same although the 1050's radiator is larger which might appear to give off more heat. It doesn't.

I just bought an '11 Speed, currently have an '09 Sprint. It can't be hotter, lol, but you'll have to wait a few months for a comparison since it's currently 14º here.
