Question If the S3 has a 9,500 Red line why can I go to 11,000 RPM??

I’ve known for a while that the speedy has a lower redline relative to other sport bikes at 9,500RPMs. I am constantly trying to get the most out of the 1050 by using the full RPM range but have found it curious I have never hit the Rev limiter once(The feeling of full throttle to nothing is always quite memorable). Today on my commute I paid special attention to this and saw that I was shifting around 10,500 RPM and between one shifts the engine revved to near 11K.

Is something wrong here or is 9,500 more of a guideline and the limiter won’t kick in to higher RPMs?

Any input is appreciated

YEah you pretty much have it there. redline is usually not where the cutoff is. Plus the actual rpm for the limiter is usually off of what the tach reads. Tachs are not precise things. I know my old bike had the rev limiter at 10,750, yet the redline was 11,000 and it would actually show higher than that before it cut out, when in reality as verfied by a dyno tach reading, the cutoff was 10,750.
