Anyone have dual IXIL pipes?

These look pretty cool. Black, stubby cans.

Anyone happen to run these? Used to run these? Anyone with firsthand experience with these cans? Have a buddy with these cans?

I had one on my Z750. Build quality and finish is good, plain and simple gloss black finish. Red bolts are love 'em or hate 'em. They worked on the Zed, but not sure how they'd look on the S3 - you could always change 'em though.

In terms of performance, I didn't get any dyno figures but it seemed to pull harder throughout the rev range. A fair bit lighter than the stock can too, but by no means as light as a carbon can. Best bit for me was the sound, I never tried it with the baffles in. These cans sound sweet, really sweet. Very deep sound, insane Stuka divebomber howl at the naughty end of the rev counter and lots of popping on decelleration which really puts some blood in it for me. 9/10 on the granny scaring scale.

If I didn't have Scorpions on my S3, i'd consider buying a pair of Ixils. They're not too expensive either, obviously alongside a pair of Arrows they are going to seem a bit on the cheap side but they are a great pair of cans for the money.

Look cool but loose the logo...

I was looking at these a couple of weeks ago and really liked the look of them on the Speed Triple. Not crazy about the red bolts since nothing else on the bike is red, but perhaps you could find replacement bolts in black or silver. I was seriously interested in hunting these down in Europe somewhere.

Unfortunately, they are not made of any sexy material... just painted black aluminum.

And of course they are not even an option unless you remove their heinous logo.

Overall, I give them a thumbs up for style; thumbs down for not being carbon fiber or anodised titanium.
My .02 cents...

p.s. I have Dual Micron Beta Race Ovals in Carbon Fiber which sound great and of course, are Made in England.
I give them a big thumbs up.

The Ixils are $595 for both cans from IndySuperbikes. Not bad! I like how they are very stubby! I'm sure you can easily take one day to remove the red bolts...paint them black and put them back in. They are ina palce that they don't get touched, are recessed so they won't get scratched. You could use BBQ grill black paint so they'd withstand the heat and you can barely see the screws anyways.

But I heard they sound GREAT.

I'm VERY tempted to get the Aluminum Jardines. There's a local dude here in San Diego that has them and they look bad ass! Not a fan of chrome/polished aluminum, but these actually look great and I've had AMAZING experience with Jardine on my last bike...CBR1000rr.

I dunno. I need exhaust sooner than later....the stock crap literally feels like it's choking, stiffled, gagged. Wanna free up the exhaust flow with some performance cans.

Get a pair of these - Scorpions. Made in England, about £450 new over here. I got mine for £200 second hand and they sound awesome.

Scorpions are good! YOu can get them ordered through Cycle gear....they come "pre-tuned" for each brand of bike. However, they run about $900 for the two. Not worth it to me for the amount of performance gain you get from ANY exhaust out there.

Hey MadeInEngland; where'd you get that tank protector?
I'm hunting for one for my matt black (pick it up in 12hrs!), and can't find something that suits. Yours looks good

Hey Andy, congrats on the matt black triple - definitely the fastest colour

Check this link out:-

I looked on Honda's site and you can still get them.

I opted for a protector from magknight - only available in the US as fas as I can tell, but magnetic, so removable. It's not quite matt - more of a satin finish, but it's pretty close and unobtrusive.

Thanks c0nn3ll,

Like the link says, it's a Honda tank protector which you should find in most Honda dealerships for about £15.00. Then it's just a matter of buying magnetic strip tape and applying it to the rear of the tank pad.

Enjoy the bike! The matt black looks awesome.
