Talking Returning to speed triple

Hi all had a triple for 5 years 2000 model loved it bought a speedmaster ,3 months ago think i made a mistake!!!!Need another triple,so the question is which one??? i like the 1150 but think its a bit small in size compared with the 955 model so has anyone a side by side pick of both together ??or even pick of themselves on the 1150 model if they are round about 6ft3 in height to see how it looks??? i know asking a lot but def need change and soon...Cheers all.

I'd stay away from the 1150.. It's too fast! And real hard to come by!

Stick with the 1050.. Much better bike

Here's the info you're looking for:

2005 1050 Triple
================
Length 2115mm (83.3in)
Width 780mm (30.7in)
Height 1250mm (49.2in)
Seat Height 815mm (32.1in)
Wheelbase 1429mm (56.2in)
Rake/Trail 23.5°/84mm
Weight (Dry) 189kg (416lb)
Fuel Capacity 18 liters (4.7 gal US)

2004 955 Triple
=================
Length 2115mm (83.3in)
Width 780mm (30.7in)
Height 1250mm (49.2in)
Seat Height 815mm (32.1in)
Wheelbase 1429mm (56.2in)
Rake/Trail 23.5°/84mm
Weight (Dry) 189kg (416lb)
Fuel Capacity 21 liters (5.5 gal US)

Looks identical, to me (except for the fuel capacity).

Seems odd that the weight didn't change a single lb/kg after switching engines.

Didn't they just stroke the 955 motor to get it to 1050? I believe it was bored from 885 to 955 then stroked to 1050. Correct me if I'm wrong which i most likely am.

I'm 6'4" and about 250LBS (all muscle obviously ), I've been told and every now and then feel a tad large for the bike but it definitely fits well. Frankly all sport(ing) bikes except BMW and the Hyper-sport tourers and chasing the lighter and leaner philosophy and seem not to take into account too much those of us fellows with "substance".

In short it'll definitely fit you comfortably and there is no way around that chopped tail not making the bike look small, whether it is or not.

I've had people tell me that I look just fine on the Daytona 675 but kinda big on "the little bike". It's all perception, the daytona has a nose and a tail and the S3 doesn't and it certainly isn't as spacious as the S3.

Sorry I don't have a pic.

I've got a 2000 955i and recently had the pleasure of riding a buddies '05 1050, but the ironic part is the 1050 was modded with bar risers and a t509 tail section. So the only thing I can really comment on was how much smoother the tranny was. My bike has about 45k miles and it's tranny is a little touchy/clunky sometimes. They new one was WAY smoother.
As far as the ergos go, They should be the same, the 1050 just appears smaller/tighter because of the chopped tail.

There was a little more to it than that. The cases are laid out differently, so are the gearbox internals, the cooling system is somewhat revised, and the valve head is different. It was a considerable evolution in some ways.

Interestingly, the 955 engines in other 2005 and 2006 models such as the Tiger and Daytona were no longer the "original" 955, but a de-stroked version of the 1050. They were also better behaved than the 955 in my earlier Tiger, and the appearance was distinctly different.
