Pretty obvious that it's the overtightened chain on yours too as oil change and chain tightening is pretty much all that the average dealer does at first service.

Have you tried to loosen the chain adjustment a bit and see if there is any difference?

There were rumors that some of the 1050's came with warped rear sprockets on the back. This would make it difficult to get the correct tension on the chain. it would also make sense that a warped or out of round sprocket would make more noise.

IMO a too tight chain would give off more vibration then too loose. Check it both ways. I like to sit on bike and check that I have not overtightened. There should be a little play with you still on it.

I've been keeping my chain at factory settings. What interval do you find the need for taking out the slack? I'm out to about 42-45mm since last adjustment, so, the factory info says I'm due. Is the general experience that you get more wear out of a moderatly loose chain?

Work commitments are keeping away from the bike this weekend, But I intend to give the chain tension a try when I get the chance...will report back!

Checked the chain tension, its to factory specs. I'm not really sure as to what is causing this vibration, I just hope that when I take her in for 3000 mile check they will fix it.

Chain tension must be checked with someone sitting on the seat.
It must also be checked at its tightest point as you rotate the wheel.

Stiff spots in chain ???

Had a mechanic check the vibe during test ride (after test ride) and he pretty said "Don't worry its just how some of 'em are".
However, I do think it has diminished, though not vanished after the chain has been thoroughly & properly lube'd. (As someone suggested above...thanks!)
So it might be a good place for you to start Rotten84. I suspect the chain had stiff spots in it. Previously the chain made a different sound when pushing the bike around (I think especialy backwards) At the time I thought it was a sign of wear. But now the chain is quieter when pushing the bike and the vibration at a certain speed while coasting has been minimised. When you think about it, it kinda makes sense, while accelerating or decelerating there would be enough tension to tighten and least half of the chain. When coasting stiff spots in the chain would resist straightening twice per chain rotation.
Hope I'm making sense...

If your bike is making a whirring noise at lower speeds, your chain is way overtightened. If your bike is lurching at lower speeds until you get up to highway speeds, you have a stretched out chain and need to replace it.

Always make sure to lubricate your chain at least every 500 miles, after riding in the rain, and clean it regularly. A Scottoiler will greatly increase the life of your chain. Unfortunately, wheelies and powerslides will stretch chains. Get a good heavy-duty 530VM or better x-ring chain if you want the longest chain life.
