Scratched wheel

So I rigged my paddock stand (with a steel stake) to work with the single sided swingarm. Unfortunately, I had an attachment on my stand that interfered with the wheel (I didn't notice at first), which I later removed. Too late, however, since it left a couple of pretty nice scratched on my wheel.

I cried

What are my options, short of buying a new wheel?

Will powdercoating the wheel "fix" it? Any spray/touch-up alternatives I can use to spot fix it?

Thanks for any suggestions. Think I'll go cry some more.

Powdercoating will be less expensive than replacing the wheel, and gives a much more durable finish than stock.

It would depend how deep the scratches are, if they are not too deep powdercoating alone would fix it. If they are deep into the the wheel its still fixable it would just have to have some filler. Normal car filler isn't recomended because of the heat the coating is baked on at. But the coaters will be able to sell (or tell) you what heat resistant filler to use.
We get heaps of stuff coated ( www.integritystrength.com ) and when we want a realy nice job we get a clear coat applied over the top of the original coat. But beware...not all coating colours or clears are particularly well UV stabilised, so be sure to ask the coater for advice on that one. Good luck!

Great! Thanks for the info!

That does make me feel a little better.

I'll save it as a project for the winter.

I put a couple of small scratches on my wheel changing the tire. I just used a Sharpie to fill them in for the time being, which has turned into 3 weeks. I can't even see where the scratches are any more. Keep in mind they are SMALL scratches.
