S&P, still looking? Try ebay, black 06 with M4 carbon can and 5,500 miles. In New York (state).

I have ridden both and am a Kawasaki fan; I am fixing to buy an 04 ZRX, my third one. But, if I was down to one bike it would be the Speed Triple. The Z1000 handles well and is a nice bike, but I dont remember it having the power of the Triple. It definitely is not as much fun to ride. The Triple is great in the city.

Got the triple you won't regret it. I'm on my second 1050 in two years, 12months and 32000K on an 05 Sprint and 20000km and 7months on an 07 S3.

I LOVE the S3. A much better bike than the Sprint. Put a rack and some luggage on it and tour or commute anywhere.

Sure the lack of fairing gives a bit of wind pressure above 130kmh, so lean into it a bit.

The ONLY 2 things the S3 doesn't do as well as the Sprint is:
Seat comfort - so buy a rug or Corbin or something
Range - it only has an 18l tank compared to the Sprints 20l.

For everything else the S3 is way ahead. If you're a bit over average, pump up the preload, stiffen up the damping on the front, and she'll take you anywhere in comfort.

Why am I comparing the S3 to the Sprint? Because the Sprint is like the ZX1100 of the 2000's, not quite your naked Z1000, but close. I also had a 2000 ZX9R and the S3 has about as much wind protection, better ergos and much better engine. Isn't the Z1000 just a bored out ZX9 motor (albeit with a totally different frame)?

One of the tricks with the seat on Speedy, is to sit back INTO the rise, lean the torso forward into the wind and go for it!

Oh, and did the other guys mention the linear torque curve, the growl of the triple, the nimbleness of a 189K naked bike with about 130horses at the crank

My bike is my daily rider. It is fabulous. I can run it hard and still return 45mpg. It is sedate enough to do yeoman's duty as a commuter. It has more than enough urge and ground clearance to charge the corners hard. The build quality is high as well.

I have no regrets in this purchase.

Well guys thanks for all the advice. After much soul searching and financial shuffling i've taken the plunge on the older speed triple, an 04 limited edition. Just can't quite justify the expense of a new one at this point and the used value of the newer models is also too high.

I may regret but i can always trade up next spring.

Good man!
When do you get it? I'll bet you post back here within 24hrs saying just how amazing your bike is...
Mine's in for it's first service on Monday, and I only have 50 miles before the 500 mark so it's really hard not to go out on it - I'd be taking it in with 700 on the clock if I did
