let me preface this by stating that i think the speed triple is the finest sport naked going.if there's just one thing that drives me nuts it's the complete lack of choice when it comes to trying to find any front windscreen (nose fairing, whatever). i'm sorry i just don't dig the little triangle thing that triumph offers, and jack lilley, well he's made a valiant effort, but its played out now. the options are so limited that it could drive a man to change up the beautiful bug lights to a single lamp just so he can have a million choices. trust me i have spent some SERIOUS time and effort (tens of hours) cruising the old information highway looking into this. someone give me some options PLEASE!! (ps. i'll never get rid of my duals up front)

We had a discussion around this a little while ago. Find the thread here

Well, my dad picked up an english wheel today in Canfield, OH so we might start pounding out some sheet steel and aluminum. If I come up with a cool-looking fairing design I'll post some pics...

I always thought something like the fairing on the John Player Norton would look really cool. Keep the existing headlights and have it slip over them.

thats along the lines of what i was thinking, except not down over the engine. i'm looking for something along the lines of the classic racer, a sweeping back windscreen, low over the instruments, open around the bars, and retaining the original headlights.

No way! The S3 is not a retro racer, it's the modern progression of such bikes. A retro fairing would just not fit with the character of this bike.

I'm also looking seriously at the 05 S3, but would also like to solve the fairing problem.

The SkyKing looks great, but how does it perform at 80 mph on the freeway?

And how does it compare to the fairing on the Sprint ST, for example.

Kind of a silly question, full fairing vers a little headlight fairing. In all honesty, go for a test ride on a Monster with the little headlight fairing, I'm betting its pretty similar.

I've got the standard RoadRacing fairing on mine. Its the same one SkyKing sells and it made a BIG difference. I went from getting my body and legs blown all over the place at any speed over 80, to almost NO wind problems on my body except at ludicrous speed, which is, btw, 150MPH. Yes, our wee S3 WILL break that supposed 140ish speed barrier, with nothing more than a racing exhaust and tiny fairing.

At non-ludicrous speeds, you'll still noticed a marked difference when it comes to getting blown around by the wind. I don't feel much of any wind below my neck (with helmet on), and the wind noise is about the same if not a hair louder. I think a chin spoiler and one of those helmet socks that seal in the open area around my neck would solve that. My balaclava helps a bit, but it seems like most of my wind noise on my helmet is caused by the back end of my helmet and the wind that rushes in there. I've got an RF1000 Shoei just as reference. I'll probably pick up some of the extra accessories for it to fix that.

I'll try and get some better pics of my bike outside where its less cluttered. I would have taken some yesterday, but it was raining out by the time I got home. Luckily, it was still around 36 degrees and not freezing outside, lol.
