Smile Tank Capacity - Reserve

Does anybody know how many kms (or miles) can the Speed Triple '07 travel once the reserve light comes on ?

If the tank capacity is 18 lts, at what point does the reserve light comes on ? 5 lts left ? 4? 3?

I recently got a GPS Gamin Zumo 550, and it has the option of telling me visually how much gas do I have left, but I have to give it the normal gas mileage of the motorcycle per tank.

Thanks for your input guys!

The light comes on very early - I think you can drive even 60 miles/100km if
necessary.

Yeah this is something that would be good to know. My light comes on only after 100 miles, I must get at least another 50 miles out of it

If there was any logic to it the fuel light would light up when there was 4 liters left...cuz that's when all other bikes I've know think it's time to hit the reserve.
My speedy light will go on and off...I hear there's a software issue with the Sprints regarding this..could possibly be the same on speedy...upgrading coming I suppose.
Anyhoooo...my fuel light comes on when there about 6 liters left....next time I start up and can be off again....and then on again bla bla bla....

Mine comes on with about 12 1/2 to 13 1/2 litres used. I get at least 70kms suburban riding on reserve and 50 when pushing on the open road. Good fast Fwy riding should see 70-90.

You can see my fuel consumption data is here HTML and here XLS

This may help you work out your average and overall mileage expectations.

Holy crap... The only calculating I do with fuel is I might every once in awhile do my mileage the miles/gallons way.

Totally agreed. This seems like a statistical study of fuel consumption. I was scanning through the data (HTML) and there is a lot of valuable information in there.

Thanks for sharing it Ruscook

Depends on how hard you push it. The light is also very inconsistent. I ran out of gas this last Sunday with what I thought was about 40 miles left in the tank. I was 10 miles away from the nearest station in the middle of no where. 150 miles on the tank and start looking hard for a gas station is my advice.

That light is FAR too unreliable! Just go by the mileage on your trip meter. I know I can get at least 120 to 130 miles and still have about a gallon left. I'm 220lbs and ride 65 miles EACH way to work...40 miles of that is open freeway hitting an average of 85-95 mph...then it's traffic. Each bike will be different due to a few factors....just get used to your bike. Go to a certain amount of miles, then just fill up. Subtract what you put in from the capacity of the tank...then you'll get an idea how many more miles you could have gotten. keep track for a few fill ups and you'll get an idea after awhile.
