Question UK insurance quotes

Sorry to all our non-UK readers but this is for us.

What experiences have you guys/gals had with the usual suspects on insurance quotes for Triples? Are there any ones that are more Triumph friendly?

My current insurance for the Gixxer is with Ebike and they seem to be competitive however it's always good to have other options.

Cheers

Neil

I insured mine with eBike, they were about £400 cheaper (Under 25, Military, 3 points on licence - not a lot going for me really) than Carole Nash, Bennetts and the other usual suspects. I had insurance on my old bike with Carole Nash and they were alright, lots of extras - breakdown cover, european riding etc - but I get that with eBike anyway.

Devitts worked out cheapest for me.

having the Triumph system 4 datatool alarm/immobiliser made a bigger difference than I thought too. Should pay for itself in about 2 years.

Think your best bet is to try a number of different sites and see what comes back.

Express insurance

Never had competitive quotes from Bennets/Nash. The only rules when getting insurance ar:
1. Never ever ever ever accept the renewal quote (how do you think companys manage to "Guarantee to beat your renewal quote"-it's because they are ALWAYS way above the odds).
2. Find two reasonable quotes and go back and forth between the two saying that the other quoted a much lower rate, of course you must lie saying they are lower than they actually are. Infact you only actually need one company and phone every 1/2 hr until a. They tell you to piss off 'cos that is as low as it is getting when you accept or b. You have spoken to each advisor and they are beginning to smell a rat.

I always egt a quote that is lower than the original offer. If you don't you are not playing the game.

I was with Carol Nash for about 4 years but have now switched to Hasting, which were a lot cheaper.

mine is 110 TPFT.. but it is locked in a garage which makes a tremendous difference on the quote,,

p.s also carole nash.. i think i stayed with them for last 4 yeears cos they are bike insurers and very friendly , however the truth is always in the pudding!! but hope i never have to put them to the test,

Sorry to take it off topic a bit, but why is insurance such a big deal over in the UK? The reason I ask is insurance companies advertise like mad in your magazines, both car and bike. I read Performance VW, Mini World, TWO as well as Performance Bike and they all have tons of full page insurance ads.

Also, are the numbers you all are quoting per month or full term. Just as a comparison I pay $850 a year for my policy (about £420).

Sorry I've just always kind of wondered.
