I JUST left the track world 2 months ago FOR the Speed Triple. LOL
Had the GSX-R1000 and the last bike I had before I got the S3 was a Honda CBR1000rr that was disgustingly modified. Before I bought the S3 I came on here asking so many questions and got GRILLED for being a rocket rider. lol
No doubt WHATSOEVER that the Speed Triple is no super bike like the Honda or Gixxer, for example. I certainly and HUGELY miss that raw, insane, mind blowing horsepower. I got my ass handed to me on the freeway last week by a pack of Honda CBR's that blew by me at what HAD TO BE 150mph. You can't do that on Speedy due to no fairing/windsheild and there's just not enough machine to feel safe on it at that speed. I do 130mph on Speedy and having JUST COME from amy CBR I feel like I'm gonna die on Speedy. Just doesn't come close to the handling and performance at those speeds compared to those super bikes. BUT...not MADE for that, so what do you expect, ya know?
That being said......after 7 years of track days and at MOST skipping 3 weekends between track days....I would never trade speedy for the world!!!! It's a different world...but a BETTER world...for me. If money wasn't a concern I'd own a disgustingly modified super bike AND a speed triple.
You are going to be surprised at how much you miss speedy, bro. The novelty of the new bike sensation and the speed rush will wear off eventually. And you'll be left with:
1) soar wrists...big time
2) Numb hands...CONSTANTLY
3) soar back
4) Cops ALWAYS....ALWAYS...ALWAYS busting your balls..looking at you for no reason.
5) A butt hair away from a gross wreck...you'll find yourself CONSTANTLY hitting 150- 175mph on the freeway EVERYDAY..at least once. You can't help it and I don't care HOW mature you claim to be. They are track bikes with license plates and they DEMAND to be raced.
6) If you ride MOSTLY freeway and twisty roads...the Speed Triple will jack your ass up and leave you in the dust. I ride WAY WAY better on my S3 on the same CRAZY ass twisty roads i have been riding for years on my super bikes.
Good luck! Enjoy it! Life is WAY too short to be curious...satisfy that curiosity and get into the race bike world for a bit.
