OIL level

Hey guys I just found out that I overfilled my oil. WHat should I do? Is this bad? what will happen to my engine? Could I file a warranty claim.

don't start it, drain it. Refill to spec. You overfilled it, it's your fault...therefore, no warranty claim.

No problem dude, relax.

Just undo your drain bolt a little at a time....little by little until the oil starts to trickle out in the drain pan. Drain some, then re-check it. Fill it back up the right way.

But i've been running my bike for a few thousand miles with it like that, it doesn't seem to have any trouble, but i"m worried now.

When I picked my 07 up from the dealer I rode it home and to a few friends houses to show her off. The next day I noticed oil on the side of the clutch cover. I cleaned it off and thought maybe they were a bit sloppy at the dealers. Turns out they must have filled the bike on the side stand because there was about 1 quart to much in there. The oil was actually overflowing out of where the clutch cable connects it was so full. It's not great to have to much oil but I wouldn't think you've done any serious damage. Better to have too much than too little.

if you had TOO much, I mean really too much you could blow seals and develop a serious leak, etc. Also, if your oil is too high there are parts inside that could whip the excess oil around they sort of "dip" into the higher level of oil and whip the oil around. That can cause the oil to become aerated, frothy. COULD be a problem. Don't sweat it man. You would have noticed a problem by now.

Drain the oil! Don't nickel and dime it. Refill it to correct level. When you CHECK and refil the oil, so it when it's centered/upright.

The bike is toast. I'll give you $500 for it.

The bike does sound like it's done. Just bad luck. But to offer him $500? friggin' insulting bastid! I'd give you the fair value of $999 for it. Just want to be fair, that's all.
