07 After Market Exhaust Question

Guys, I have a blue 07 that I'm trying to find an after market dual exhaust. As most know, blue was never an option for 07, but according to Triumph USA, there were a handfull around, but not enough to advertise them. My vin# does show it as an 07. The question is this, according to Ron at Pipe City, all of the major manufactureres of dual can setups, like Micron, Jardine, Leo Vince etc, say that Tiumph changed the 07 exhaust slightly to where the mid pipe conncection is supposed to be about one half inch different, therefore, all these pipe company's say their 05, 06 pipes won't fit the 07 and all are waiting to get an 07 for refit. Has anyone actually tried any of the dual canister half systems from any of the majors on their 07? If so, what brand? Another thing, after talking to Triumph USA, the rep really couldn't tell me if my blue was actually a late manufactured 06 that was left over and was badged with an 07 vin#. If it's actually a left over 06, then it wouldn't be a problem with finding an exhaust. I just don't want to chance ordering one if it really is an 07 with the exhaust change from Triumph. Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated.

Trident - www.trident-exhausts.com have an 07 1/2 system on the shelf. The cans alone from any 05 or 06 bike will fit the 07 by the way - it's only if you want the upswept pipe work as well that it's different. If you want to be sure you have an 07 just look down by the rider's footpeg - the 07 has a shiny heat shield attached whilst the earlier bikes do not - instead you will see the 02 sensor there

Peter, Thanks for the reply. My heat shield has a dull finish and 02 sensor is behind it and the foot peg. Do the 07's not have an 02 sensor at all in that location, or is it that only the 07's have a shiny, chrome like finish on heat shield to distinguish it from an 05 or 06? Also, how much for the slip on system shipped to Texas? Thanks, Tommy.

The 07 bike does not have an 02 sensor at that location so you must have an 06 model - we have the 05/06 half systems as well of course :-)

The slip on 1/2 system shipped to the US is $1385 in carbon or titanium
Stainless is $200 less

I just purchased a Leo Vince twin carbon half system for an '07 speedy. It was falsely advertised as compatible with this year but after further research i found this is not true. Here are the differences from what i can tell between the '05-'06 and the '07s.

'07s have:- shorter header (approx 2") with integrated O2 sensor inboard near oil filter and heatshield behind right footpeg.
- The header end is upswept more than previous models at the end, tighter to both the engine and bottom of frame.

I have mocked up the Leo Vince system on bike and from what i can tell, I need to add two more inches to the midpipe provided AND I need to lower the header termination about 3/4". Once this is done, i would need to thread a silicone coated bolt into the O2 receiver to block it.

Frankly, this is more work than its worth so i'm going to try and find headers from the '05-06s...

Yeah, i found them on ebay for $699 new..they are NOT for an '07. Leo Vince doesn't make them yet. However, i ended up taking the midpipe in to a machine shop today where they TIG welded on an extra 1.75" length of stainless tubing to it. It now fits! There is just enough clearance for the rear brake/master cylinder to work and it looks good. The header to midpipe connection could probably use a slight bend inwards toward the rear tire but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Looks the business and sounds good too. NOw i just need to plug the O2 sensor hole tommorrow and call it good.

Not sure what tune yet, i'm going to take it to the local dealer, they've done a good job on past bikes. I'll definately let you know if there are any differences..besides the improved sound of course!

One thing that is very noticable is that the bike fires up RIGHT NOW, as soon as i hit the starter where before it would turn over reluctantly almost a few times like it didn't have enough volts. I keep it charged so thats not the issue. I wonder if less backpressure could cause this...?
