OK lads, I'm going on a trip to the South of France today. See how good old Speedy is at 3000+ miles including loads of twisties in the Alps. Also be able to compare it to my mates BMW 1200GS and Honda Hornet 1000. Just changed my tyres from Pilot Power 2CTs (wouldn't last the distance) so see how the Bridgestone BT020s cope with the trip. I'll post pics when I return in a couple of weeks.
Au Revoir.

Just came back from a similar journey in May - it's a great trip! Make sure you get a bit of the Route Napoleon in, best road I've ever ridden

Bon voyage!!

Did part of that trip on my way back to Portugal from the Uk. (Mental note: never try to have dinner at 23:30. ***** chef almost beat the ***** out of me for having the nerve!) :-D

Did the trip with Bt015 front/Bt020 rear... good tires.

I'll be doing almost the same in 11 days time, down to Spain, get as many mountains and countries in as possible, into Italy, over Swiss Alps, through Germany and blast around the Nurburgring (so I am sticking with the powers on the wheels) then back to Blighty. Be interesting to compare notes on taking S3s long distance.

Just got back

Our trip went from Belgium, down through France to the Alps then on to Italy, Switzerland and back through France and Belgium. 12 days and about 2600 miles. I'm compiling the pics now so I'll post some when I'm finished. It was the best trip of my life, fantastic twisties, both tight hairpins and large sweepers. Between 8 and 11 hours a day on the bike, which I don't think the standard seat was designed for. May have to upgrade it if I do it again.

+1.

I`ve done it many times in the late 80`s and 90`s but it`s coming up to almost 10 years since I`ve ridden in Europe. I buy all these British bike mags like 'Two' and 'Bike' and there seems to be a European touring story in nearly every issue.

Very Jealous!
