I am just about to take Speedy on a two and a half week blast around Europe and decided to buy a back protector. I went down the Knox Ricochet route. However, I was between sizes - the 7 or the 8 plate. Seeing as I am not usually in a full race crouch and wear two piece leathers I went for the slightly shorter one, as I felt that the longer would protrude from under my jacket and on long rides when changing position could press on the seat and cause discomfort.

It's pretty comfy though, even in warm weather. In fact, when the sun is really blazing down the air channels should help insulate me from the hot leather. Wear a hi wicking sports t-shirt underneath and sweat is not really a problem.

Any thoughts on comfort vs enhanced coccyx protection?

I got the 7 plate Bohn, which is similar. The 7 plate is more comfortable in the more upright po of the S3, according to the Bohn site. Try 'em both while in your kit and see which one works for you.

I am 6ft and have the Knox Ricochet 8 plate. It does stick out a little below my jacket but I am not too worried about that. I used it on trackdays on my GSXR750 before I was knocked off at Silverstone, and now use it on my S3. It is incredibly comfortable and I forget I am waering it most of the time.

Doc - I'm a shade under 5'10 but have long legs, so I guess the 7 plate is closest to my torso length. Agreed - even after one ride they are pretty comfy, forgot I had it on after a while.
