Hey there,
I'm about to order the TORS for my 07 Speed Triple. I'm one of the few who prefer the stock look of the pipes for Speedy.
My dealer just told me their TORS tune + installation would cost me $80, which I find to be a reasonable price.
I think the Tuneboy tune is more expensive, like $250-$300. So why is it more expensive? Is it better? Thanks for your input.
Max

there's not a tuneboy tune. You buy the tuneboy to download any tune you wish, and modify if you wish. You are buying the ability to reprogram your ECU yourself. And $80 is not a good deal. The install of TOR's takes 10 minutes, same amount of time to put the TOR's tune in. I recommend Tuneboy.

Why do you recommend Tuneboy over TORS tune from dealer? What difference concretely providing that I can't do anything by myself (download any tune I wish, reprogram the ECU, uh, qu'est-ce que c'est?), and that I'm just looking for a louder sound (5hp gain always appreciated too) from Speedy?
I don't discuss prices with dealers anymore, I know I'm being ripped off most of the time, but I do need to service my bike, and I've already banned myself from too many dealers close to where I live. Now they ripp me off, and I just smile, and say thank you.

If all you ever do to the bike is install the TORS cans and tunes then having the dealer do it is the most cost effective thing to do. Some dealers will only charge 1/2 hour labor cuz it really is simple.
However, if you want to be able to read ECU error codes, plan on more mods, correct your speedo, change your gearing and want to correct your speedo again, run premium gas and increase your ignition timing, change your rev limiter, tune YOUR engine on a dyno or all of the above then a Tuneboy is the only way to go.

but seriously, atleast install the cans yourself and save yourself a little cash, it takes all of 10 minutes. Loosen 2 bolts, 2 exhaust clamps, slip the old one's off, and the new one's on. Take off heat shields off the old cans, put them on the new. :hammer: :-D

I don't need a Tuneboy, nor more complications in my life. I just want Speedy to make a little more noise.
Thanks!

Pfff, that sounds complicated... You're cheapbastard, I'm lazybastard.
Nah I'll just ask my dealer, or try to ask him if he can install new front turn signals and hand grips (both Rizoma's) during this hour of labor he intends to charge me for the TORS.

paying a dealer to install two exhaust cans is worse than paying a dirty inbred redneck like "Cheap" to come into your house to change a light bulb. Spend the 30-60 minutes TOPS...that includes drinking one beer and playing with your nuts while you stare at the instructions. It's easy.
As far as fixing your speedo....there's a device called a "speedo healer" that can be bought online. It's easy to install and EASY as hell to program. The tune boy seems to give the "tinker-er" many more options to play with and customize the performace of the bike.
Seems like you just want it to be louder and sound meaner. Than putting cans on is all you'll need. But to spend that kind of money for the cans and not MAP it to take advantage of the performance gains seems like a waist.

The cans will be mapped by the dealer's TORS tune, I believe. So I will take advantage of the slight* performance gains, no?
(* shall I say unsignificant performance gains? Or does 5hp make a world of difference, will Speedy finally lift up the front wheel in 1st and 2nd gear when I don't want it to?)
