Nice Thread, Dfib. Notice you used a shot of my bike for the Micron example. :)

Weight savings should be minimum 5-6kg and the dealer added the tune from Micron during installation.

For those interested, here's a better close up of the Micron Carbon Fiber dual pipes (before I did my tail tidy).

Zard slip on - 06 model bike

You need to make sure you get the correct pipe as 06 and 07 models are different. Even though I got the bike in October 07 it's still an 06 bike, so always check. It caught me out. The 06 model has a thread to insert the lambda sensor. This is a UK road legal pipe but you can remove the baffle to generate a bit more noise if you like (luvely jubely :)) Trumpet dealers can install a tune for it which makes the bike rub smoother and gets rid of popping on de-acceleration.

Newbie Question

Hi all been searching for a speed triple site and now i found one that looks the business.....Got a question about after market exhausts i`ve got a 2006 S3 with the TORS system fitted from new but i really like the look with the single can gp style as per the Arrow etc i will be able to fabricate a can myself and a link pipe but i need to know what the concensus is on the O2 sensor that is plumbed into the pipework after the joint where the pipes become double do i just disconnect it or will i need to fabricate a fitting for the sensor any help would be great. Ive also fitted a K n N airfilter for a bit more breath are there any other mods for a bit more power without spending a fortune Thanks all :)

Does no one have any info on the newest Arrow dual high-mount slip-ons as per the Triumph catalogue?
Last I heard was from Jack Lilley people, that Hinckley factory was getting 1st shipment of mufflers at 21-Dec-2007 and that EU dealers will be getting them sometime early 2008.

Pipes will fit all 1050, from 2005 ->

I also noticed on one of the Paris show pics that there was a circlip on the end of the can, which would imply that they have removable noise killer baffles.

I just had an arrow low mount/single 3-into-1 installed on my Speedy last weekend. It is definately a bit louder than the stock at lower RPM's, and really wakes up at about 5-6k and is much louder. But I just love the sound it now produces! I don't think it's as loud as some of the other straight-thru's I've heard, so I'd call it a good in-between. I thought I saw a clip somewhere of someone comparing a MIVV or M3 to the Arrow... Search on the forum and I'm sure you'll find it.

I have the Arrow 3 into 1 on my S3 and to be honest it's not that loud at all (all personal opinion of course). It's definitely a bit more 'throaty' than the stock units but to give you an idea in the UK we have a yearly 'roadworthy' check called the MOT. As part of that the mechanic performing it is able to pass or fail a bike based on his perception of the sound and whether that is road legal or not. The dealers where I got my S3 have passed MOT's on bikes with this pipe so that leads me to believe that (from the UK's perspective) that this is not a loud pipe at all.

It has a presence, that is the best way to describe it :)

Same here in the US (at least New Jersey). Every two years it has to be inspected, and they [CAN fail your having too loud a bike (normally aimed at the Harleys with straight pipes), but they normally over look this. I'm looking for something that won't annoy the neighborhood every time i start it in the morning getting ready for work. For comparison, can anyone compare it to the TORS system, the bike i test road last week had the TORS on it, and that isn't what i would consider loud (though it did smell a little rich).

#20 ·
So i got the Mivv can on... and im pissed....

Pissed i didnt get one sooner! This thing has exploded my expectations. It Roars a loud deep growl with the DB killer removed, and the bike runs better than ever. I had not had the chance to really explore power gains, since i have had the can on for one day and it was 20 degrees out  , but i did romp on the throttle a few times, and i am now having even more trouble keeping 2 wheels on the ground. (shhh: dont tell anyone, but i even got to have a little race between my triple and a police cruiser). I had my dealer tune the bike, so i dont know what tune they ended up loading, but it works freaking great. And all of this for 380 bucks!! (pjsparts)

Triumph - ARROW Slipon silencers 3 to 2

Latest addition to my speedy that just came in a few days back;

Triumph - ARROW Slipon silencers 3 to 2

I haven't been able to road-test them yet because of the bad weather here, but they shure sound right :)

Here is a short movie of the exhaust without DB killers...

Dante, couple of questions about the exhaust. First, compared to stock, how is the sound both with and without the baffles. Also how did you re-tune the motor, did you do it or the dealer, and what map did you use?

Thanks Dante and Martin for the info,

Can you confirm that the only part needed to connect the cans is the mid pipe with the serial number that is on the attached thumbnails on Dante's post of page 4 of this thread?

I have a 05 that I'd like to fit those arrow cans to but my local dealers say they won't fit. I don't think they're trying hard enough!

Cheers.

If you want just the cans, all you need comes with the Triumph Arrow kit. Same kit works for all 1050 Triples. 2005 to 2008. This was also verified from Hinckley before I ordered the cans.

If you want the Arrow midpipe+cans, you need Triumph Arrow kit + Arrow midpipe kit for the 2005-2006 (71325MI). Midpipe for late 06 & 07 (the ones where header ends closer to bike's front) is 71370MI.

Your dealer has wrong info. Kit will fit on your 2005 as-is without any modding. If you use the Arrow midpipe, a bunch of the kit parts are just left out.

@bobmcduff

The sound is good with the baffles in, a little dipper than with the stock exhaust, but it really gets better when you take them out, the sound is much dipper then and in my oppinion just right and not to loud.
I've been diving around with the baffles out for a couple of days, and the sound is really great.
It is not road legal that way where I live, but I think that if you can control your right wrist in the urban areas a little you could be OK.

I have to say, that before I had the tune downloaded the exhaust was in my opinion maybe drawing a little too much attention with all the backfireing especialy riding through town, which went away with the tune download. It still pops here and there but not nearly as much as with the stock exhaust or Arrows before the tune upgrade.

For now the dealer downloaded 'ARROW full system map with SAI', the difference in bike performance is quite noticeable, and also the poping on decel stoped, although I liked that :)

I do not know if there is any map available special for this setup yet, or what would be the best one to use. We will see on the feedbacks from other users.

Regards,
D.

Aha. So yours backfires a bit too with the duals?

I too am running a Arrows 3-1 based tune (a custom TuneBoy one, though) and sometimes when snapping throttle shut I get a small pop of flames from the exhaust.

No major explosion, more like someone popping a paper bag.

I've been doing a little research and I'm kind of disappointed with the lack of pictures available for the mivv gp titanium exhaust. Are there any of you fellahs out there that are rocking this particular exhaust that maybe have some pictures kicking around? I also noticed that while searching for pictures of the mivv I saw that there are differences in the angle of the exhaust on the 1050. There seem to be two standards and I didn't know which was which from pre 07 to 07. I like the steeper angle of the exhaust which is similar to the new scorpion gp low mount. I was also wondering if any of ya'll might have some more pics of the m4 GP that you wouldn't mind sharing. Thanks.

#30 ·
i have the titanium GP fitted to my '07, i dont have any photos yet, but its farkin cool. the angle of the pipe depends on what year exhaust system your bike has on it, my bike is an '07 but it had the '06 exhaust fitted (triumph are weird)

first pic is of the '05-'06 exhaust, second is of the '07 (note the position of the oxygen sensor if you are unsure of what exhaust you have)

I appreciate the insight nodrog. I have an 07 but if my memory is correct I have the O2 sensor towards the rear (I'm on campus right now and won't be able to look again until later today) so I guess that means that I have the cool angle exhaust. Does the other models not have O2 sensors or are they just located in a different location? In any case thanks again and if you ever happen to take a pic or two give me a shout if you remember, I would love to see what the titanium model looks like. Thanks.

#32 ·
sweet as, yep if your O2 sensor is at the back you will have to order the '06 model exhaust and mid pipe, on the newer models the oxygen sensor is located in the header pipe.

i will post up some pics when the rest of the mods are finished, no point posting a half arse job :D

pipes

nodrog

You have any sound bites of that exhaust? I have an 06 and am in the market for some exhaust and looking at the pipe you have and the M4

I think all 06 models have the O2 sensor in the back...will have to look at mine but hope it is cause I like the steep angle of the pipe...

Know where I can get sound bites of those mivv and maybe sound bites of the M4 GP on the 1050?

Thanks
