Well, this illustrates how useless are all these videos with exhaust sounds. It seems like the bike becomes quieter with baffles removed - but this is because while probably actually louder, sound is shifted to low frequencies and not reproduced well in these videos. This is because of (1) microphone limitation and (2) youtube crappy sound file processing. Also, exhaust note is very much different under load, free revving in neutral gives just wheezy sound.
I have installed 3-into-2 Arrows too, but keep the baffles in. I'm happy with the sound, and think that any louder will be too much for me (more annoying that amusing). Can anybody tell me if it is really much louder without baffles or just different sound? How about under the load?

I removed them after taking the weld off and I rode for a while last night. A couple of things I noticed.
1) from idle to around 3k rpm there isn't a huge difference in the noise under load
2) over 3k rpm it is lower and louder by a noticable amount (your right the video doesn't do it justice.
3) once you are in high gear and back around 3-5k rpm (highway speeds) you do get a droning that isn't as loud stock.
4) if you run it without the baffles you need the remap.

Personally I like the sounds that come from that monster when the baffles are out. The first light i hit when i got off the twisties there was a car full of girls that were like NICE BIKE and they started yelling and stuff. that could have had something to do with it... love the triple

2008 exhaust

Besides Arrow, are there any exhaust systems available yet for the '08s? Or does anyone know if the low-mount slip-ons are the same as the 05-07? I would like a carbon low mount, M4 preferred.

I believe the '07 & '08 are the same, the '06 and back are different. I just got an '08 and bought an Mivv low-mount carbon can. Dealer put the TOR tune on it & with the dbKiller removed it ran great, but with alot of popping on decel, and it was too freekin loud, even for me, so I put the dbKiller back in & I like the sound and the popping aint as bad.

If the M4 fits an '07 you ought to be good2go.

So was the Mivv you have listed as a 2007 part?

Yes it was, talked to the nice lady at PJ's parts and she was real knowlegable. The exhaust on the '08 is the same as the '07

Whether I run mine baffles in or out, ever since the Arrows have been fitted I get an annoying clatter/loose noise at certain revs/speed - generally 18-60mph when just jogging along without putting on the power - as soon as you power up it is not so noticable.

It's been back to the dealer who says it is exhaust resonance & confirm that they did retuned it when the Arrows were fitted and say it is just one of those things.

To get a comparison, I took out their test bike which has the same Arrows and it didn't clatter and popped far more on decel.

Is it usual 1) the clatter/exhaust resonance, 2) different S3 different exhaust effects - Any ideas?

2008 Arrow slip ons on my 2005 S3

I get the resonance (when running without the baffles) that wasn't as loud stock but it is only at certain rpms. I would describe it as a deep droning sounds not a clatter though.
When I upshift it usually goes away. The first couple miles (100) it was louder now that they are worked in it seems to have gone away a bit. I feel that the pipes really woke up the 1050, since i have had it for over 3 years now and finally went aftermarket it now puts an even bigger smile on my face with the Arrow slip ons fitted...

Cheers for the reply Brit3 - I just wanted reassurance that the odd sounding resonance was norm and you have given me that (although different from your sound experience is seems these oddities occur) - I have now run her about 300miles with the Arrows but the resonance doesn't get any less.

Out of interest did you need to get your S3 retuned when the Arrows were fitted with baffles in and did you need a retune when you removed them?
