I am a looking to buy the slow black 07 S3. I've noticed that all the black 07's I've seen do not have the heat shield on the mid pipe, they have the 06 exhaust. The super fast white and the insanely fast green ones all have the 07 heat shields. The O2 sensor seems to be in a different place. Why would this be, and does this also mean that the ECU is from 06? Can someone please help me understand the different parts combinations on the 07's? Anything to avoid? Does any of this matter?
Thanks

no, none of it really matters. :hammer: :-D Triumph just does that to screw with yer head. :-D If it has the 06 exhaust, it doesn't necessarily mean it has the old ECU. Be glad it has the old style exhaust, you will have more aftermarket options. :-D

I thought everyone knew the legendary scorched yellow was by far the fastest...... Around here you need a special type C++ motorcycle licenses to ride one (I didn't pass the test). :-D I wish yellow was available now.
I JUST bought an 07 this week. Didn't even get to sit on it yet and the ECU is bad. I got the whole run down from this particular dealer so who knows if it's true.
The "problems" with the 06 ECU was immediately addressed witht he new 07 bikes. That sec0nd version fixed the problems with the 06 problems but introduced some "motherboard" problems so once in awhile SOME of the second generation 07 ECU's would fail (like mine). ABOUT half way through the 07 model year they resolved everything. So mid to present o7 versions are fine. SOME of the early 07 S3's managed to get the problematic ECU's still in them. it's a clster fukk. Bottom line is my bike is 2 days out of the crate, was in the prep process prior to letting me fire it up for the FIRST dam time and already needs a new $1800 ECU. Wonderful.

Nooooooo sorry to hear that , how long before you are back up? If it was just out of the crate how could it have the old ecu? How can you tell what ecu is on your bike? I am about to hopefully go get one in an hour.

There's no way to know unless they tear it out and do some calling to Triumph back and forth all dam day. There's just this transition in 06 to 07 with a new style ECU. The dealer told me that right about now there should only be new ECU's in the 07's unless you have a bike on the floor that's been sitting there since early 06.
Back up? dam dude, I never GOT up to begin with. I boughy itt Tuesday. Gave them until Friday to prep the bike for me. Friday came and went and no bike. Never even sat on my bike yet. Saw it in the crate, decided to buy that one. They CLAIM I should be on it riding by next weekend...they have to have a new ECU delivered from Triumph....I hope there's a Triumph here in the states??? And not have to wait for an ECU from England!! And next week is 4th of July so that will certainly delay *****. FUKK I'm getting pissed even typing this. lol
Odds are yours will be on the floor and have already gone through the 55 point check list. Might just need gas and ouil, brake fluid and you're good to go.
