Lately when i want to get on it from a stand still, sometimes the bike will shift to neutral instead of 2nd gear, reving up loud as ***** and embarassing the sh**t out of me when i'm trying to race somebody.....is that a mechanical problem, or do i need to shift up a little harder?

Make sure the gear change linkage hasn`t come loose. More info would be good.

happens to me too, I just use more pressure for a positive shift between 1st and 2nd, all others gears shift fine.

Start in 2nd gear when you launch, bypassing neutral.

I had that problem earlier, I just learned to "positively and assertively" shift from 1st to 2nd, it's now second nature and doesn't happen any longer.

I've never had that problem with my '06. Yours should still be covered by warranty (2 yrs from purchase date). Have the dealership check it out.

If I know I'm going to be launching from a stand still I usually start in second.... First seems really short when your really getting on it. Other wise I make sure to exaggerate my shift from first to second.
