G'day Folks,.. I could start my old Honda 250 with a simple press of the starter... the new speedy needs the clutch in for the starter to fire...

I'm guessing this wouldn't be a quick fix to disable the need for the clutch, but I'll remain hopeful and ask, just in case you tell me otherwise...

I don't see much point in needing the clutch in..?

If you got a hold of the wiring diagram and some basic electrical work I don't see why you couldn't just bypass the switch so it always thinks the clutch is in. Only reason for the switch would be if you thought it was in neutral but it wasn't.

I'm thinking it would be pretty embarassing not to mention the potential damage if you tried starting the bike in gear and the clutch switch was bypassed.

I guess I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". But, to each their own I guess.

I like the setup on my Honda Hawk GT. The bike had to be in Neutral OR in gear and clutch in. So either way you're safe.

You can't start it in gear with the side-stand down anyway, clutch or no. I like to start mine, then put on gear. Let'er warm up a little before flogging her. clutching and starting with hands full of jacket, gloves, helmet, glasses, etc.......is a pain.
