Just had my first service done on new Speedy. My dealer said they advised not to do it until between 800 - 1000 miles. For various reasons, decided to go to a local bike mechanic, rather than part with the bike for a couple days while getting serviced at dealer 60 odd miles away.

Cost of first service - $255.84

And i quote from the invoice

"there were too many loose bolts to list. all bolts within sight were checked for correct torque. left foot peg heel guard was really loose and likely cause of the complaint. nice bike, thanks, Dan"

The complaint I had was a rattling noise on hard acceleration.
They told me that all the plastic body parts were loose too. Basically everything needed tightening. So perhaps a word of warning to any new owners. Check all bolts after a couple hundered miles. I dont know whether it was engine vibration, poor assembly by dealer, or poor assembly by Triumph.
Part of that service of course was $60 for synthetic Torco oil.
$14 for oil filter.
The rest was pretty much labour, at $85 an hour.

yikes. my 500 mile service was $160something, which is still high for a glorified oil change.

i don't care for some dealers practices however that is definitely your fault...pre ride checks take all of five minutes and would have shown many of your loose issues...

I agree. Its something we all should do every day before a ride. Only takes a few minutes. I didnt go to the dealer for this service. If I had I wonder if I would have had to pay for the tightening of those bolts. I probably would have as they would have told me it was vibrations from the engine that has worked them loose and not any fault on their end. Plus I'm not sure how much actual assembly the dealer does. I would think it comes pretty much assembled from Blighty.

I called that gob****e yesterday and he actually was, dare I say it "nice". He called me by my name, told me the stuff would definitely be here this week. We will see.

Hey Boghopper,,

guess what, I just got off the phone and my carbon flyscreen came in and he is going to ship it to me since I live 60 miles away.... Wow!

Who knows what his problem was.. Maybe calling Triumph and ratting on him did some good. Maybe I will do more business with him.. maybe...

Hey we got to meet up some time...

All bikes rasttle loose eventually. The vibrations just do that and unwind the bolts. It's VERY common practice to go over the bike for such a thing.....I do so EVERY oil change as the oil drains thoroughly....clean her up and go over her with a keen eye and a torque wrench....especially on my high reving CBR1000rr.
