A few weeks ago I installed Rizoma "Zero" blinkers.

I swapped to a LED flasher, bought from www.newspeed3.com

This eve I washed my S3 but now if I just turn my key, I can hear the flasher ticking constantly without even using my left or right indicators.

Is my flasher toasted ? Or is it possible that some water penetrated in the pastic hoses where I soldered the wires toghether and this is the cause of the flasher going crazy.

Thanks

What wires did you solder together? That flasher is a simple plug and play. Are you talking about the fronts? I have almost the same setup with a different set of Rizoma's up front, that same LED flasher and Clear Alternatives out back. Are they actually flashing when you turn the key or is it just the flasher you hear? About the only suggestion I can give is put the OEM flasher in and see what happens (or have you already tried)

Actually all went well for weeks.

Since this eve , my indicators work fine if I need them but I can hear the flasher unit ticking constantly even when I do not use my indicators.

The ticking is driving me nuts.

When I install my OEM flasher unit the ticking is gone. Downside of the OEM unit is of course that the blinker rate goes twice as fast.

My question now is , is my LED flasher toasted ?

Strange thing is that the problem began after I washed the bike. The flasher unit is bone dry .... could penetraded water in a blinker be the problem ?

Had the same issue, althoughj mine started after a ride and I just shut the bike off. Used the stock flasher unit for a week then plugged in the newspeed unit again and has workd fine since.

Hmmmmmm the mistery of the flasher ....

Than maybe it could be moisture at the blinkers that makes the flasher unit go crazy ? just need to wait till it dries up ?

Thanks for your input
cheers

Wouldn't you blow a fuse if you shorted any of the blnkers or the flasher?

Don't know if it is a consolation to you but my newspeed3 flasher does the exact same thing. very bizarre but the flasher does work fin when the bike is on.

I will try pulling it out and putting it back in as someone else mentioned.

I've noticed that I can hear the flasher click a time or two after I cancel (this is obviously not whilst riding or even while idling) but other than that, it's fine. I've had mine in for not quite two weeks.

The mystery continues, after wondering if it was water penetration somewhere at a blinker, I decided the evening to try the newspeed flasher again .....

...it's working fine again !

I do not understand how but it's a consolation that I am not alone with the same problem.

Does newspeed knows about this ?
Doesn't looks normal to me ....

cheers :???:

Hey Gang,

I've seen this a few times now. Each time, water is the common denominator. I would suggest dialectic grease as a possible solution. As you know the factory uses it on almost ALL of their connections. DC33 is common. Also something very interesting is in some cases, the bike is not running. With battery voltage alone it could play tricks (especially if the battery is less than 100%.) I have seen low voltage do the strangest things.
