Greetings all,

Ive been a frequent visitor of the Sprint forums, having owned two Sprints in rapid succession. However, I just found out my wife purchased me an '07 Speed Trip in Black for my Birthday. (Bless her heart, but she let the cat out of the bag a month early, having no place to hide it...not to mention, the suspense was killing her. lol)

So, my question is, I was looking at some alternative after market exhausts (though i may stick with the TORs), and found one set called Chain Reaction. According to the blurp on newspeed3, it mentioned they won't fit on an '07. Why is this, and besides the improved FI, what else is different with the '07?

http://www.newspeed3.com/html/chain_...n_exhaust.html

Also, once I get the bike (have to go out of town for a week on business), I'll be sure to post proper pics. Man, it's going to be a LONG week! :hammer:

Congratulations both on the new bike and even more for having the good sense to marry such a girl.
There are lots and lots of exhausts to choose from. Have a look at some of the albums on this site to see what you like.

Bless her heart, indeed. Does she have a sister?

congrats my man, and happy bday. The 07 midpipe and header is different from the 05-06's. But Limey is right, Bob is work'n on the midpipe for the 07's and she be done very shortly. Btw, he's also work'n on a header that could possibly flow better, so you could possibly buy a full system if all of the testing goes good. :-D

I've seen the proto header in the flesh, and if nothing else, the different style collector should have much better throttle response in the midrange. :-D

Thanks all,

So the mid pipe was changed because of why? I ask out of curiousity.

And yes, I'm overwhelmed, but believe me, I feel truly honored (and not because of said gift).

The 07 exhaust was changed to handle more strict emission controls. The mid pie has some sort of cat in it. :hammer:

This may help you in understanding what Bob form Chain Reaction is currently doing as a work around for the 07 S3s. The fabrication work on the mid-pipe. is in its final stages... he is now waiting for his shipment of mufflers to come in so we can test the new stuff on my 07 S3.

Here is one of the last dialogs I've had with Bob about his progress:

"Morning John,

Here’s some comments on your comments, in no particular order:

I don’t have a direct manufacturer setup for the mufflers. It’s a long story, but bottom line is I’m somewhat at the mercy of another guy.

The answer to the mid-pipe question is a solid “yes”. But how much of the mid-pipe we send back and forth depends. Assuming that the piece I made actually does the job and connects my current mid-pipe to the 07 header, there are two approaches we can take. 1) You use it as an adapter that clamps on until I have a header for you or, 2) I weld it in place and you cut it off when you get a header. Either way, I have to get at least that adapter back so I can reproduce it. I’m going to send it to you with the mid-pipe (and mufflers) marked as to where I think its going to fit. That may be off a little, so you’ll need to install the exhaust and then either verify that I have it right or remark it correctly. That will be pretty easy. What I do is draw 2 or 3 lines parallel with the pipes that cross the joint. You just slip the pieces together and line up the marks. If I got it right, great. If not, you just re-mark the adapter only with a mark that lines up with the mark already on the mid-pipe. I’ll have a second mid-pipe marked the same on this end so you won’t have to return that one if you decide to go with the clamp on option. You return it to me, I build a jig and Bob’s your uncle.

My mufflers are hard anodized, but the header will be ceramic coated as an option. I don’t currently offer that on the mid-pipes because I don’t have access to anyone who can do that over here.

As far as the sound, this may help with the wife….or not. It’s a quote from a customer:

I finally got them on.... I started her up and OMFG!!!!! I busted a nut right on the spot! THEY SOUND AMAZING!!!! I got them aligned pretty well.... but I'll check them today in the light. BTW.... I think you need to re-weigh one of your cans vs. the a stock can! stock can feels like 12 pounds and yours feel like 2! Now I just gotta go get the TORs tune so I can get rid of the decel popping. Oh ya.... and my mistress was in the garage painting her nails.... and when she heard it start up.... the panties hit the floor! So ya, you need to add to your site that they’re certified panty droppers!

Cheers!

Bob Floyd"

I hate waiting for his amazing pipes... But I know it will be worth it.

Freekin' copycat.

His wife isn't THAT cool guys. If you only knew how many bikes and cars she's gone through in the last 3 years (heck, the last 3 months) you'd know that she OWES him a new bike, big time.

Congrats, my friend. About time you joined the cool people with the S3's. Now I demand you come visit, WITH the bike. We can ride around and be a pair of hooligans together, it's been a while!

I'm glad to see both of you had the common sense to pick Black, which is the preferred color by discerning people everywhere. Plus, it's faster, everyone knows that.

So when is your birthday again? I guess now I know what to get you, as long as I can keep up with what mods you've done.
