Hello, I am new here. I just bought a 2000 Triple, and I recieved no owners manual with it. Couple of questions. What viscosity and brand of oil works best for you guys? Also, what is the capacity? The bike has 5500 miles on it, and I am going to put new tires on it. I was thinking Pirelli Diablos. Yea or ney? Also it has a "Wunoff" exhaust from England on it. As far as I can tell it has no fuel programer on it, but is running fairly rich. Will the factory ECU compensate for this, or is there a way to tell if it has been reprogrammed? Any other suggestions about what to look for would be great, thank you all. Has any one had good luck with the PowerCommander 3? I tried using the search function, but I got a headache.

Mmmmm!! Any good synthetic Motorcycle oil, I use mobil1 racing 4T, Perelli Diablo's are fine. The stock ECU should compensate for the pipe, But there are plenty of downloads out there.

I wonder if full synth. oil is good for breaking in an engine?
do engine parts seat in as well? I would think it takes longer.

According to those more knowledgeable than me, don't use full synthetic during break-in, but use full synthetic forever after. In order to not ruin your clutch, don't use oil with friction modifiers; motorcycle specific oil is the safest way to assure that, but many riders use regular synthetic that doesn't have friction modifiers, regular Mobil 1 15-50 for example.

Only the oil made from fat of freshly clubbed baby seals ever makes it to my bike!

Also to answer you next question the rubber round type of tyres work the best.

Actually, you got a couple of good answers. This subject has been beaten to death on this and other forums. A good 15/50 synthetic will work fine with 3-4,000 mile change intervals. I use Red Line 15/50 in my '01 along with a Purolator 14610 or 14612 filter. Use what you want but there is a boatload of info if you Google the right keywords.

So no 10-40. 15-50 it is then. About how much does it take to properly fill the crankcase?
