I have read on the list some members commenting on how their 1050s sound like a fax machine after shutdown. Mine has never done this???? If I understand the system correctly, this noise is the ecm getting its signals from the various sensors to get ready for the next start cycle. Do all 1050s do this? Mine is an 05? Trying to get to the bottem of this inconsistent cold start issue. If my bike is supposed to go through this shutdown cycle and isnt then I have an issue to address :???:

My triumph mechanic told me it was the fuel pump releasing pressure.
I don't know if that's true or not....

It's calling into the Mothership. My '07 S3 does it, and I talked to a guy who's 675 does it as well.

I understand that the post shutdown sounds only occur with the new ECU, which comes with the 2007 S3s. 05 and 06 models with the older ECU will not make these noises.

It is indeed a fax. If you will look in the left can (after you hear the noise when the bike is shut down), you'll see a white, A4 sized fax. Most people don't know about this because the fax is incinerated about 10 seconds after the engine is started.

I'll have to listen for this noise when I demo a S3 tomorrow. I assumed the only noise I would hear after shutting it off would be my own giggles of joy.

Overheard in the parking garage:

Employee 1: Careful, don't get too close to that motorcycle.

Employee 2: Why?

Employee 1: It has an active alarm. When the guy parks it it dials into a server to be monitored!

Employee 2: Seriously? That's cool!

Employee 1: Yeah, I was out here one morning and heard it dial in after he parked it.

A guy on an R1 who was parking nearby relayed that conversation to me. I'm not sure if they just ASSUMED that's what it was doing or if some other smart @ss fed them a line...but personally I think it's hilarious. :-D
