I swear I have nothing to do with these guys, first off! (I'm a newb and don't want anyone to think I'm a shill.)

So I've been considering a replacement job on the water hoses on my already-beloved (if a bit new) speedy. Originally I was considering braided lines and new (welded) fittings, and I still am, sorta.

But a friend of mine was pointing me at silicone hoses, specifically the Samco ones. They seemed to mostly do kits for cars, although had a few bike kits as well. For the heck of it, I emailed them and asked them if they had any plans to do a hose kit for the speedy.

The answer I got back was (surprisingly) enthusiastic. The gist of it is that they'd be happy to do it, on two conditions. One, they get a set of hoses to use as a template (which I'm happy, if anxious, to provide). Two, they'd need to sell at least 20-30 of the kits to make the tooling worth their costs, and asked me if I knew of any riding clubs/etc. that I could ping to see if there was enough interest.

So... Ping! What do you all think? Personally I think the water hoses on this thing are some of the ugliest elements to the engine; everything else is so beautiful then you have these nasty hoses that look out of place in the engine area. That and there's the added benefit of the more companies that sell after-market stuff for Triumphs, the more other companies are going to realize how fantastic these bikes are, and will want to expand their line to include aftermarket stuff for them.

Whatcha think?

Interested. Curious on price, colors, and fittings.

Other than esthetics - what are the benefits of using these hoses opposed to stock?

Well, technically, silicone hoses will expand less and adhere better to metal (at the radiator, pump, etc. fittings).

But it's mostly aesthetics.

Price for the coolant kits range from about $100 to $300, depending on the number of hoses (I'm getting this from looking at their US dist. sites for their other bike kits). I think the speedy would need 5 hoses, from my recollection of looking over the engine, which based on their other kits of that size would be $100-$130.

I don't know for sure, though, like I say I'm just looking at the US distributor sites (sporthoses.com). They've got some pics up, too, of both the car and the bike kits.

1050 is different than 955i which is different than the daytona...

I'm not in unless someone ante's up their hoses. I was interested in doing this a while back, but the fact that I'd have to have my bike sitting for months without it's hoses kinda killed it for me.

I'm willing to send mine in. Already talked with him about that. After all, if you really love something, you have to set it free and see if it comes back to you. Or something.

im down , depending on the color , silicone has a bunch of advantages over the stockers , being able to operate at higher heat ranges is one of them
