I just got a note from my dealer that Triumph is about to release 50 "Special Edition" '07 Speed Triples worldwide. My dealer is only getting one and is accepting deposits (bidding war).

The dealer was pretty vague in the email, but said they're black bikes with all the goodies (Arrow stubby exhaust I'm assumming)

Anyone else hear about these?

It might be what I got....it's a limited edition...that means it's matt black...nothing else is different from the regular line.

They released 10 to Scandinavia.

I spoke to a dealer today about the Special Edition model. He said it has the Arrow 3-into-1 exhaust, a lot of carbon fiber parts (fly screen, belly pan, heel guards, etc.).

He quoted me a price of $11,999. A $500 deposit was required. Expected delivery is mid-June. And yes, there are only 50 to be imported (according to him).

Dunno about Europe, but here in USA, it'll be Jet Black, not Matt Black. And other than the Arrow pipes, it's all just cosmetic sh!t: carbon fiber windscreen, belly pan, seat cowl, axle covers, and a few other CF bits.

I think Triumph missed the boat by concentrating on things that only posers would be concerned with. Personally, I would have liked to have seen top-shelf suspenders and brakes, but that would have increased the price by more than the $2K that they're charging for this L.E. So maybe their marketing department in right... maybe a $2K increase for such superficial sh!t is a stroke of genius. Bet the posers and the CF junkies will eat it up.

I'm not sure why someone is a poser if they want to make enhancements on their motorcycle that doesn't make it go faster or turn better. The performance of a S3 is way beyond most riders capabilities to begin with....why spend thousands of dollars more for minimal gains which might not be realized by most people.

I have acquaintances that act like performance enhancements are a necessity or the bike is un-ridable.....that's being a poser.

It just seems like a black S3 with some extra carbon fiber junk. Cool if you're into it and you're going to buy that stuff, but I'm not blown away. A "special edition" should be a limited paint scheme and a little bit of a performance upgrade like "centinial edition" for the Daytonas, which is the best looknig bike of all time in my opinion.

No different than spending thousands on CF just to shave a couple pounds when riding recreationally.
Or is it all about looking cool at bike night?
