How do you Americans get reprimanded for traffic crimes against society?
Here in the UK we are issued with 3 points for a simple speeding crime and a £60 fine. If you accrue 12 points within a 3 yr period you have your licence revoked usually for a period of 12 months. You are usually banned for going over 100mph (or at least heavily fined) again typically for 12 months.

its a point system. Number of points against your license depending on the violation. Speeding violation are typically 2 to 5 points. In Md there is a 12 point system= 12 and youre done.

Plus on top of the DMV points system, the insurance companies have a points system too, and your rates get higher for each successive point until you are insurable, and considered high risk. At that point the rate are sky high. All this can come without a single claim on your insurance too.

>20mph over in WI can result in a reckless driving and loss of license for 7-30 days FYI.

Receive ticket - contest ticket (I fight every ticket right or wrong)
Request court date -
If cop shows up - 50/50 chance they will not, if not case is tossed-
If they show fight ticket in court in front of a judge and get ticket tossed due to the road not being properly posted.
IMO not one road in this country is properly posted.
Some times the judge will reduce the fine.
Worst case scenario is you pay the entire fine.
This has never happened to me in all my years of fighting every ticket I have ever received.

use the system to your advantage, they are expecting you to roll over and play dead and just write a check. Don't make it easy for them make them earn their money, again it's you right as an American.

Point system?...... In TX they judge and hang you on the spot, so all who pass by may be warned.

In most of Europe speeding is hardly even noticed... European cops only care about the important things like not passing on the right, etc.

In America speeding is a revenue generator and not much else.

Contest the ticket by written declaration. I sent in my written not guilty plea and since the cops dont get paid for written trials (they get $300 for showing up in court) most of the time they wont even bother writing a statement back. I have had %100 dismissal of my speeding tickets this way, and you dont have to take a day off work to go down to the court. www.ticketassassin.com

Also if you are found guilty you are entitled to a trial nuevo or a "new trial" by mail if you wish.

Ohio has the same 12-point system, however, if you get 3 tickets within 6 months, that is an automatic 6 points for the third ticket. I found this out the hard way and had to go through the whole retarded 12-point violation experience. I still have a ***** SR-22 on my license (drunk driver mandatory insurance reporting form that makes you look like you're a drunk driver, even though all my tickets were lame 10-15mph over in a 55). Thankfully, I haven't had a 'recorded' moving violation in 5 years and plan to keep it that way. The SR-22 is coming off this fall. Now I hire a lawyer for every future ticket.
