At Metric I will be starting my S3 engine upgrade project in a few weeks. As some of you know, we only do motor, no blowers, Turbos or NOS. This past weekend I finaly got an S3. ( I love this bike!)

The project will start with base testing of the fuel system and stock exhaust. Then with an aftermarket exhaust (Wolf), after that the motor will be removed and an accurate measurement of the CR (compression ratio) will be taken and then we will modify the head and cams. The idea behind the project is to modify only what you have. Although some parts, such as valves, may be upgraded to stainless, stock sizes will be used. And the motor must run on pump gas. We may re-grind the cams, so if anyone has a set (1050) please let me know if you want to sell them. Or any other engine parts for that matter.

I will start a page on my website soon with a bit more info and some engine details if anyone is interested. I will post the dyno tests of each stage (Factory EC997 dyno, sorry no inflated HP #'s here.) I will also post a few other Triumphs if anyone's interested (The SuperCharged Roc3 was neat) We just did the fuel mapping and testing.

I'm sure a lot will ask "why Wolf EX?'' Came with the bike. :-D

Thanks Robert, Sealy TX, for such a well looked after S3 (Hmm get rid of that map HUH)
And thanks to Mr Lee, Dallas TX. Enjoyed tuning your S3, it reminded me how much I like Triumphs. :upthumb:

Thanks
Andy

Hehe, I might have a 1098 to send you down the road (anniversary present). For now, the 955i does everything I want it to. Just need some cosmetic tweaks and maybe some mild motor work this fall or early next year. A Daytona motor and some suspension tuning would be perfect. Maybe carbon wheels... does it ever end?

Andy has an awesome shop for anyone near Houston. Awesome guy who really knows his stuff.

Hey man, with all due respect what are you going to do with 1050 cams on a 955 apart from going backwards????

I had a look on your site, very nice show room; I would dump the old school mill and lathe pictures though, not a good look IMHO!!!! I hope you’re not making cam profiles on that old girl dudel!!!

Tune away man, we all need to see results and power!!!!!!

Andy's final bike vs. Ferrari F50 vs. Datsun painted Roulette Green?

The Datsun would win, because Roulette Green is always victorious!!! :2guns:

Yes the pictures on my site are very old. In fact that's not even my location anymore. As for equipment . Where would you like me to start.
But never mind I will add some pics of the shop in the process of the S3.
Ok as for an update on the bike.
The bike I bought ran really badly. Today I took some dyno runs on the machine. But it was horrible. I tried to load another map just to see if that could be it. But no luck. For now I resigned to the fact , something is wrong. (81 HP)
Removed the plugs, and It seems Triumph did not allow for drain holes in the spark plug towers. (most bikes have weep holes. To let water out that may dam up in the spark plug tower.
Mine were full of water. This could be the culprit for a misfire.
Along the way. Ofcoarse the air filter was bad. (no big deal)
And the air intakes are tiny.
But for the sake of accurate data we will only modify the bike when we get it sorted. For now it's get all the gremlins out.
Alex my trusted mechanic, made a good point today.
If I loved the bike like THAT. I am gonna be over the moon when it's done.
I promise to try get cracking on my web page for this project ASAP.
With nicer equipment pics for Mr Knob

Today I started the S3 page.
I will do my best with better pics and details .
It's under "articles"
Ohh forgot the equip pics for Mr Knob. oops
I must update the Joe Dirt R1 too. The Carrillo rods arrived.
I just seem to gravitate more towards the S3.
For gear heads who like that. watch out for my SV650.
Rules for that project are a bit stricter than the "Dirt" .
STOCK CRANK. Let's just say , the compression on that is hi enough to warrant 24v start system.
