Picked up my new 2003 Speed Triple today from Ed's in Hyde Park, NY. First off, the dealer experience was fantastic . . no problems whatsoever. It's no wonder he's been in business for 50 years.

I put on 125 miles today. The first 100 of the break in were torture! This bike does not want to stay below 3500 rpms. With that said, keeping it at a slow and steady pace was actually good as it afforded me some time to get used to the controls, riding position, etc. Everything about the bike seems smoooooth. The clutch is a bit stiff, but I expect that to lessen as the bike wears in. The bike handles like a DREAM and the stopping power is superb. Coming from a Tbird, it took me a few miles to adjust to the more aggressive riding position.

The first accessories I plan to get are the carbon tank pad and the fly screen. The pad seems to be a "must have" since the rider has so much contact with the tank.

Here's a link to a pic . . .

Sweeet! Oh, maybe I think that because it looks like mine.

But honestly, I highly recommend getting the high carbon exhaust. I'm a pretty conservative guy and didn't really care that it was on my bike when I first bought it. But now I think it makes the bike. It just shows off that great single sinded arm so well.

Here's a pic of mine so you can see what your's would look like. Capt.'s S3

Hi 97TB,

I bought my Sprint ST from Ed last April. As a matter of fact I traded in a 98 TBS for it. I have about 6,500 miles on it so far. It is a great machine and I love riding it.

Enjoy the S3. It is a great handling and fast machine. Good luck with it. And good luck taking it through its first 1000 miles. It is torture having to monitor the RPM's.

We are surrounded with so many great roads. I frequently ride in the Catskills, Dutches and Columbia Counties.

Again enjoy and good luck with the machine.

Congrats on the new bike !!! I would suggest this as a possible substitute for the pad. It works great and you hardly know its even there !

What is involved with installing the flyscreen? Does it just bolt on?

yea, basically it screws on. remove the back of the stock gauge cluster, fasten the new front to the back of the cluster and then screw in the trim piece that surrounds the gauges. also had to unhook and rehook the wiring harness from the gauge cluster at some point. pretty basic and all parts plus instructions were supplied.
