I was looking at the tail end of my 06 S3 and noticed a gap between the seat and the tail light assembly. When I compared it to another S3, clearely there is a part missing.

I have a factory seat cowl on mine and the other didn't.

The part in question attaches to the seat (underneath) with two bolts and rounds out the tail end.

So my question is ... where did it go?? Did it need to be removed to fit the seat cowl?

I've had this bike for over a yeatr now and it's the first time i'm noticing this... very odd. :???:

Normally that piece is removed to provide access to the bolts holes for the Grab bar, but you don't seem to be wanting that, as you have the cowl.

Goffe - So then it wasn't necessary for it to be removed to fit the seat cowl?

I don't know; I've never put a cowl on, sorry.

I believe it does need to be rmoved for the seat cowl. Almost sounds like you haven't hooked the end of the seat cowl underneath the seat. Care to post a picture?

Sounds like you are missing the factory plastic piece.
It's just a filler piece and does nothing but clean the back end up.

I didn't think it needed to be removed for the rear seat cowl but I did have to remove it to put the grab rail on.

You are missing the plastic filler which screws to the underside of the seat.
You can get one with a piece cut out for the grab rail.

Spend thanks. Yes that looks like the missing part. Mistery resolved. I took the seat cowl to wask speedy and put it back on wrong. Now properly fitted, it covers the gap. me -> :knkknk:
