Dumb question but here I go...

I still have the stock pipes and when I ride, the inside of my boot heels rest on the heat shields (when on toes on the pegs). With all of the after market pipes, do you guys have the same thing and, without heat sheild, do you smell burning rubber/leather?

Assume the aftermarket's "tuck in" better?

The one thing the an aftermarket exhaust will give you is cooler exhaust pipes, especially the muffler, but if you keep the stock mid-pipe, there might not be that much difference. You could always get some rearsets :-D .

Same problem with Staintunes. When I wear any boots with some rubber trim on the back, they melt if I'm not careful. But I always ride with my toes on the pegs, so sometimes it's difficult to keep in mind. With a particular pair of Alpinestars (now gone) it took me a whole afternoon to clean the residue off the pipes.
