The oil in new Triumps is a running in oil. The manual states that the oil should be changed at 500 miles to Mobil 1 15/50, Triumph badged synthetic oil. I use Red Line 15/50. There are a lot of opinions about which oil to use, but a good synthetic of the correct weight without friction modifiers is a good place to start.

+1.

When I picked up my new S3 from my dealer friday he told me the same thing above; the factory oil is a semi synthetic for run in which should be changed at 500 miles for Mobil-1.

I'm planning on changing the oil a few times myself before the 500 mile change, possibly at 100 miles and 300 miles, does anyone know if you can get the factory run in oil or is there a good substitute for it?
Thankyou

No need to, but you can buy the Triumph running in oil in 5 litre cans from your Triumph dealer.

Consider just changing the filter.

I bought 2 jugs of the break-in oil and 2 filters for $68 total. If I happen to not use the oil, I can return, but i'll do at least one oil change for sure.
