My new Kriega US-20 tailpack finally arrived today - it finally arrived on Kriega's website yesterday, too:

www.kriega.com/pages/us20/US20-topframeset.html

In case you're in the market for a tailpack right now, it fits great on the S3:

It comes with shoulder strap and is modular with Kriega's other stuff - add a Kriega US-10 tailpack and it becomes the US-30:

You can also add another US-10 (one either side) to make a 40-litre tailpack (US-40, of course)... I don't have another US-10 but I can see myself getting one really soon. The US-10 is really handy as a small 10-litre tailpack on its own, and it fits on the back of most of Kriega's biking backpacks.

All Kriega stuff is really well made (with a 10 year guarantee) and I've been really impressed so far - definitely got to get myself an R25 soon...

Yeah, I know - good, aren't they? Polished 'em up specially for the photo...

The tyres aren't that old and the good weather's only just appeared round here. I'll see what I can do!

that bag looks nice.
just wondering how it attaches, looks like
you have it threaded under the seat.
if so does the seat click down okay.
i have an 03 and it is already a pain
in the *ss to get the seat to engage with
the aftermarket triumph grab rail installed.
if i tried to engage it with straps under there as well
i think it would be a problem.
are there any other attachment methods for this
bag ? i've been looking for a tailbag and i like
this one alot.

The straps are supposed to go under the seat pad - they don't cause me any trouble with my 2006 S3 but there might not be so much clearance on the '03. They're only single straps, though, so it shouldn't be a problem in most cases.

The straps are pretty long and easily go right round my tail unit - although I appreciate that there's a lot more on an '03 to get round. The way the pack attaches, as a last resort you could make your own straps and just slide the Kriega buckles onto them.

Both the US-10 and US-20 also have straps sewn onto them at the bottom so it would probably also be possible to mount the packs using these (rather than passing the main straps over the top). It'd be a bit less stable, though. The US-20 in particular has several mounting points so I'd be surprised if you couldn't find some way to hook it up.

The way the whole thing goes together, it also looks like you could attach three US-10s to a US-20 (to make a 50-litre pack) if you got creative with the straps.

If in doubt, just give Kriega a call - they're very helpful!

So, you put the rear strap under the tail?

Nice. I've got a Kriega backpack that is a really well thought out piece of gear. I bet their tailpack is a real keeper.

Hmmm...kinda makes me second guess my decision to order the Triumph tailpack.

It might not look like it on the photos I posted (although there are more if you click the images and take a look at my Flickr album) but both the straps are held on by the seat, not by going under the tail (although I guess that's an option as the supplied straps are deliberately over-long).

The rear strap fits at the back before the seat's plastic end piece - there's virtually no chance of it coming off because the plastic end prevents the rear strap sliding off, and the front strap is in front of the seat catch. I loop the single strap (which helps to hold the liner closed) around the built-in seat strap so everything is very secure.

Properly tightened, there's no feeling that things are going to move around, although I have yet to do a long trip with the US-20... When I do I'll make sure to post my findings.
