A lot of us may have already seen these videos but I`ll post them again for the newbies. The second one, although shorter, is quite interesting too. Enjoy.

Advice from Carl O. of Ononewheel.com (He uses S3's for his class!)

Quote:
I'm not sure how much practice you've gotten in since posting this, but there are a couple things I'll mention. Slipping the clutch is a bad idea. You're going to wear out your clutch super fast if you're slipping it to get the front wheel up in the air. Also, becuase of clutch wear, you would need to increase the frequency of your oil changes.

Clutching the front wheel up is done by pulling the clutch in and popping it back out almost instantaneously while under light to moderate acceleration. This is more aggressive than your slipping, but it's not going to overheat and wear out your clutch plates as quick.

I'm unsure of why you want to pull it up in second gear when you're doing it in first already. Option one being you want to go faster, and option two being you want to carry it farther. IF you're looking to carry it farther, then don't do it in second. Keep going with the first gear wheelies and bring the front wheel up higher. Bringing the front of the bike higher creates more wind resistance, and puts more of your weight back allowing you to shut of the throttle slightly to keep your speed down.

If you just want to go faster, well, that's what second will give you. The technique for getting it up should be the same for all gears if you're using the clutch, just slightly more aggressive. And COVER THAT REAR BRAKE.

What are the magic numbers? Is first gear the easiest gear to moist a minger on the power? What speed should you be travelling and at what revs before you shut down momentarily and then open it up again? Where should I position my body?

.....enquiring minds want to know. :???:

Go pic up this months issue of Bike (yes we get UK rags in Canada), gives a good step by step how to loft yourself for beginners.

Although they rated the speed triple fourth behind a SV650 and Kawi Versys as awesome one wheel machines :???: .

They rated the SV higher than the S3? ***! SVs are well know for having oil starvation issues when wheelied!

Doc007 - To answer your question grabbing a handfull of throttle while sitting upright (and covering the rear brake) at anything higher than 3k rpms in 1st is gonna bring the tire up. There is no need to chop the throttle first. Chopping the throttle and opening it back up aggressively in second at the 5k range will have the same effect.

Dfib, now you mention this, does the S3 keep the oilpressure up when wheelied? No riks in longer wheelies?

I only make them max 3 seconds so don't know, and no time to watch the oillight then

None that I've ever heard.

I can't imagine they have problems if the "On one wheel" wheelie school uses them. And as far back as I can remember reading the posts here, no one has ever mentioned a problem.
