When did the 2007 hit the showroom floors? When will the 2008s start showing up? Keep in mind I am just inquiring about the S3.

No one knows. Probably not even Triumph. Previous years' production runs have shown up all over the calendar, but most often at this time of year, give or take a couple of months. Depends on demand, parts availability, and whether they're introducing a substantially new version or just a model year increment.

No major update should be due for a couple more years yet.

I'm betting that there WILL be a major updae on the Speed Triple for 08. Second generation through current have all lasted about 3 years and then saw an update.

My money is on an updated 2008 model too. Might be just an cosmetic update though as I do not believe there is much more to be squeezed out of the 1050 base design.

The limited run of matte black 2007 bikes seems to suggest this also as usually Triumph has done some limited special on the last bikes of a current run.

As far as timetables go, I'd say the new design will be published around August and will hit dealers in larger numbers this fall/beginning of 2008.

I have a bit of a dilemma: I am seriously considering a purchase of a new S3. BUT - is this a good time to buy a 2007, or should I wait for the 2008? Is it supposed to have the Brembo's, or is it a maybe? The 2008's should show up pretty soon, I hope, although the official Triumph
website does not mention them yet.
What do you say?

I bought an 07 in Jan 07 and am very happy with it. If I was looking now I'd wait until July because the model release tends to follow the northern summer.

IF (big if) Triumph radically upate the S3 for 08 then the I think the decision gets easier. Then the 07 will be discounted after the 08 hits the stores.

Remember the 2007 is the third version of the 1050 triple - so pretty much all the bugs are sorted now and it's a great package. So if the 08 has some particular feature you really can't live without get it, otherwise you should get a bargain on the 07 which is definitely the best of the 1050 S3's todate.

Now if you don't want to wait for the 08 and you buy now then as long as Triumph don't update the 08 much, there won't be much discounting on the 07 and you won't feel ripped off. However if they do the big update and the remainings 07's get discounted you'll be pissed and feel a right wally :hammer: :-)

See easy decision :-D .

It's May, so if it was me I'd wait till the sneak previews hit the press in the next month and see what specs/colour schemes there are for 08 then decide.
