I noticed today that there is some play in my rotors, between the actual rotor and the gold part that mounts to the wheel. About 2-3mm. Is this normal?

Yes, the sideways movement is for optimal pad/disc surface contact, and the rotational one, from what I was told, is to accomodate the rotor's expansion under heat.

I didn't really worry till I compared them to the rotors of a ZRX and R6, which were both pretty firm. I was all ready to buy some wave rotors.

If you need the excuse, er.. uh.. they're supposed to be tight.. yeah, really tight.. no movement at all. You need new rotors.

Triple rider, you think yours are loose? wait til you get full floaters. When i got mine, they made so much noise I kept checking them to see if they were coming off. Now when I go over a bump at slow speed, I hear them and think nothing of it. But, I would double check yours, it sounds like they might be broken........
