What do you think has been the best after market item or mod for the S3?
Some of the exhaust systems for sure and mirrors have help a great deal but I think Tuneboy has my vote. While I am not experienced enough to develop my own maps and stuff I can really appreciate the quality of this engine management system and its ease of usage.
I am really happy with the after market support of this bike.
Its allot more than I expected when I purchased it about a year ago. Seems every week new items are coming out, great to have so many choices.

What gets your vote?

Not one thing, but...

TuneBoy, followed closely by aftermarket silencers (no specific brand, but cheaper is good).

Both have great bang for the buck. Together they complement each other well and make the riding experience greatly improved.

I still think powdercoating the odd silver parts is one of the best asthetic things that you can do for the Speed Triple. If you can handle a grinder and welder well, then header work is an easy choice as well.

Aftermarket seat - big improvement over stock.

+1 to what Devi said. IMO, tuneboy and aftermarket exhaust are a must and well worth the money. Hopefully I will be able to comment on the stock header cleanup myself before long. :-D

If I had to take off all but one of the following thingies that have been on my S3, (Tuneboy, Oldsquids, Adjures/Hellas/PIAAs, bars, rearsets, mirrors, grills, signals, powdercoated parts, Corbin, gel grips, heated grips, cruise, T-Bar, wheel stripes, sliders, Fender eliminator, Ohlins rear, Hyperpro front springs), I would probably leave the mirrors, as droll as that sounds, followed closely by the Corbin and the Ohlins. I don't know if that is exactly the criteria you are looking for, so I'll catagorize:

Coolest: Ohlins
Most Attention-Getting to Everyone: Oldsqiuds
Bang for the Buck: sliders
Best Functional Riding Enhancement: Rizoma Reverse Retros
Best Long Day Insurance: Corbin
Best Cargo Help: T-Bar
Best for Cold Weather: Heated Grips
Most Ostensibly Useless, Yet Deceptively Functional: Reflective wheel strpies
Best Hidden Secret, and by Far the Geek's Dream: Tuneboy
Best for Night Riding: Adjure/Hella/PIAAs
Least Appreciated: Rearsets
Used for the Shortest Time and Removed: Cruise
Negative Functionality Award: Fender Eliminator

+1000 here.

everytime i go to a "bike night", EVERYONE crowds around my bike and stares at the chain reaction® exhaust set up.

saving for tuneboy and headers next.

interesting on the rear sets goffe, you'd think those would get huge props.
thanks for the input.

Well, mainly why I say that is because I haven't tried to adjust them to perfection, and I basically forget they are there. They do work as I had hoped though, and have no regrets in getting them.

If you are like myself and believe that the stock S3 has enough power already (I can't ride the bike to its limits yet) then the SW-Motech Center Stand is the shiznit. Makes maintenance of thy chain, changing tires, and washing the wheels a breeze. :upthumb:

I think the best "functional" aftermarket item for the S3 is a rear shock. The stock shock on this bike sux. As soon as I get the bucks, there'll be an Ohlins on my bike.
