Does anyone here use anytype of MP3 player on the road? I have been looking at getting an MP3 player and a set of the Bose or Shure in ear noise cancelling headphones. I always have a lot of wind noise (nature of the beast with a naked bike I am sure) and have used earplugs to drown the noise out on longer rides. I was thinking the noise cancelling feature might help, and it would be nice to have some background music while riding too.
If anyone here listens while riding, what do you use? I tried a "speaker" style in helmet design once before and it was great until about 35-40mph. Then you couldn't hear much from them. Is there a better set that I should try, or any reason to not try the in-ear?
Thanks,
Shawn

I use an IPOD with the E2C in ear noise cancelling headphones. I also just ordered this for the IPOD. http://www.belkin.com/pressroom/rele...rtCommand.html

i use mine all the time....i hate to ride with out it...it does get rid of wind noise...as for headphones i got some 5 dollar jvc earbuds and they are the best i've ever had...make sure you get some that really stick in your ears otherwise you have big trouble when fitting your helmet...also you won't be able to hear your riding buddies at a stop...so i usually ride with one in and one out when i need to communicate

What I use on my ZRX is Creative Labs Zen Nano Plus through Etymotic Research ER6-i Isolators. They diminish wind noise completely and are super hi-fi quality. They allow you to listen at low levels while cutting out outside noise. Protect your hearing guys! Riding produces LOUD SUSTAINED sound that can permanently damage your hearing.

Dell DJ20 with the Sure E2 headphones. I like the E2's because they come with two different style earbuds, one plastic and one foam. The foam ones work better for my ear and feel like I'm wearing normal earplugs. If you go with them, don't loop them around the ear when wearing a helmet, just let them hang like a normal set of earphones. As for the MP3, I love mine. I usually wear it in my jacket and the buttons are large enough that I can pause, rewind and skip tracks by just pressing on them through the leather. Only thing about going with a hard drive based mp3 player is that on rough roads, they are prone to locking up. It was more of an issue when I kept it in my tankbag. I also have a Samsung 1 gig mp3 thats a flash drive based mp3, so it never has this issue. I use this when driving down to LA because of how bad the southern cali roads are. :hammer:

I ONLY use mine when I snowboard or I'm on the train commuting into work.
I have found through experience I CAN NOT listen to music while I have anything with a throttle.
My WR450 - nope can't keep the front tire on the ground.
MXZ Renegade - can't keep the thing under 70MPH even on the goat paths.
Every other bike I have ever owned - nope can't keep the thing even close to the speed limit.
I have tried but IMO I just can't do it and still ride safe.
I think if you check your state regs you will find a law that states using headphones even in a car is ILLEGAL.
Not an ear piece for a phone but headphones.

i'll either use my ipod nano with some shure e2c's with the earplug foam covers, or i have a new ipod shuffle with headphones from my SE walkman phone that have a 2 inch lead. the shuffle clips to my helmet strap and i have no slack wires hanging down. of course, if i don't get my helmet on the first time without pulling the earbuds out of my ears, i usually get pissed off and leave the music at home...

I have some sony earbuds, the noise canceling kind, cheaper than bose and other high end stuff, only 30 bucks at bestbuy. They act like earplugs on long trips, but I never turn my Ipod on when riding. I feel I need total concentration not to get flattened by some soccer mom in a minivan who is busy yelling at her demon spawn and not keeping an eye on the road. : ">
