I was riding to work this morning, and thinking about my 1050, and many other bikes I have ridden.
Don't get me wrong I really like the new bike. It's the "the dog's bollocks" as they say!
But one thing I really liked and miss about the 955 is that distinctive intake growl that bike has. Anyone that has a 955 knows what I'm talking about. I used to love riding through tunnels and grabbing a couple extra gears and listening to the intake just gurgle and growl.
These bike have such great personality! The Japanese bike makers just don't understand.
Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Nope. 1050 rocks. Hope I managed to clear this up.

I rode a 1050 and didn't have a need to replace my 955. Oh yeah, I know what you mean.

My 99' S3 was my first bike, so I will always have a soft spot for her. I rode the wheels off of her for 6 years. I actually contemplated keeping her and buying a Suzook or something as a stable mate. But in the end I sold 99 and got an 06' S3. So far, I think I made the right decision. Lizzy makes 99 feel ancient by comparison. Gone, but not fogotten. :-D

I know what you mean but I know you're not going to get much love on this 1050 Speed Triple forum.
You guys with the late model S3s know it use to be an occult bike. You'd go to a bike night and be the only one there and people would ask a bunch of questions. Last week I went to our local spot and I was one of 4 black speedies.
I like my 955 and I do just fine against the 1050s.
1050s should respect their elders.

SpeedyDave - When I was playing with the airbox and intake snorkles on it, I found something that may interest you. When I made a custom set of airbox horn inlets that did not turn towards each other, but turned outwards, the intake 'roar' was definately more noticeable.
You might try to rotate the stock snorkles 180 degrees and see what you get.
