I need new handlebars, i bent mine in a crash last month.
i've checked out renthals, rizomas and LSL, i have specs for each but i have nothing to compare them to, seeing how
i'm not sure exactly how to measure my stock bars. also seeing how they are pretty bent up i'm not even sure if i could get an acurate measurement.
does anyone have the specs on stock 2003 S3 bars?
also can anyone recommend a aftermarket bar with
a slightly lower rise and slightly less pullback than stock.
from what i've heard so far the renthals and rizomas are
pretty much identical to stock.

thanks.

I've been looking for new bars as well and came across these measurements of the stock bars on a website a while back. Unfortunately, I don't remember which site it was so I can't vouch for their accuracy

Speed Triple ‘02/05
Diameter 7/8"
Height 3-1/2"
Width 28-1/2"
Pullback 8
Center 6
Clamp Area 2-3/4 x 4-1/2

I wanted to move farther forward w/ straighter wrists and a slightly lower position. I just ordered a set of Rizomas hoping that it will make a noticeable difference in the first two factors even though it probably won't be noticeably lower (just 0.3")

If I still need to get a little lower, I might consider new risers. Does anyone know of a riser w/ less rise that will fit our bikes? I took mine off my '03 to measure this weekend and if I remember correctly, it came out to 41mm from the bottom of the riser where it rests on the triple clamp to the lowest point on the top of the riser (where the bottom of the handle bar would sit.)

If you want to go even lower and don't mind a non-traditional look, you should take a look at this aftermarket SV650 bar: http://www.suburban-machinery.com/sv650.htm Several people on the board have put the type2 bar on their S3s.

thanks c_t_smith for those specs - big help.
if you could let me know how the rizomas compare to
stock bars after you fit them it would be a big help.

has anyone else fit rizomas?

Will do. The color I ordered (black) was on backorder at PJsParts.com, so it may be a couple weeks before I get them installed.

I have the Renthal Streetfighters and they are almost the same dimensions to stock, a hair wider.

My rizomas arrived yesterday and they are noticeably lower. Unfortunately though, the pullback is almost identical to stock so I won't get the more extended riding position I was expecting.
