Any thoughts on BMC air filter vs KN? There is big difference in price, will I get anything more for the money?

01 S3

Thanks

There has been some reports of a bad fit with the KN.

EDIT: Oh. That of course applies to 05-> models only

I've read a number of posts on bike and car forums about poor fit and shabby construction on the K&N filters. I bought a BMC filter from a local Triumph dealer for $79.

I used the Pipercross, its construction is made of foam and gives a larger surface area than standard.
Fit was fine and easy to install...

I initially thought my K&N on my "06 could have fit better but then realized that it depends on the airbox lid center screw more than the stock filter. L O'P.

just fitted my BMC filter. No problems. I'm still on the stock tune but will change it at next service. Bike runs great, heaps smoother. Brought mine from a Honda shop, they said they got in a K & N for a 06 S3 and it was warped so they sent it back and got a 2nd one which was the same. They ended up returning it and getting a BMC.
P.S cost $130 aussie dollars.

Similar here; bought the K&N, which was warped. Called K&N, who promptly sent a replacement, which fit, but barely. So, the service was great, but the product was marginal. Had I known...
