"The union voted Wednesday to authorize a strike after rejecting the company’s contract offer, which would have reduced pay rates for new hires, required employees to pay part of their health insurance premiums and forced pension concessions."
"The company said its proposal included annual wage increases of 4 percent over three years. But part of the increase depended on the union’s agreeing to contribute toward health insurance coverage. Unionized employees currently pay no premium. It also would have doubled the company’s 401(k) retirement plan contributions."
Now explain to me how unions are good for the employee, the company, the economy, and the end product.

you guys are kidding right? lets say you make $20/hr. 4% over three years is .80cents/hr or $32 a week. now they want them to take on part of the health care costs so say goodbye to that big $32 increase. i am pretty sure the cost of living will rise in the next three years also. the kicker here is harley davidson is raking in the$$$ with there overpriced bikes and limitless merchandising. the big wigs at harley are living large. now the union comes along and tries to get the workers a better package so they can have decent living standards and most people side with the wealthy big wigs and bash the union. take a good look at a corp. like walmart that is not unionized and see how the poor slobs working for them are being taken advantage of, its atrocious. yes there are problems with unions but by and large they protect the working people and keep corps. from holding us hostage. did you ever see the bumper sticker that reads "WEEKENDS BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE UNION LABOR MOVEMENT" thats the truth :hammer:

quit bashing companies like walmart, and i shop there and sam's club. Without companies like walmart, you think prices will be as competitive? i agree everyone needs to make a decent living, but there is alot of other options, if they don't think they make enough, go do something else. Unions are good, but they tend to get too greedy. What good comes out of it is taken away by the people that run them. Think the head of the union is not pay big money? Google search what happen with the NYC subway strike, and how much help the union really did for its members.

Screw the union people.... a company shouldnt have to negotiate with them. If an employee wants to make more money.... the employee can either improve his skill set and give a company a reason to give him a raise..... or he can go find a job elsewhere that will provide him what he wants.
Its not the companies fault that the only thing joe blow worker is good at is screwing in the same bolt into the same part thousands of times.
You can't fix stupid

Thats cause they buy bulk from China....you could go to Target and pay a higher price for the same***** from China...you like Wally World cause yer cheap...
Wally World makes a buck on slave labor...they are at the low side of the spectrum and I refuse to trade with them.
