Hi all, new to the S3 forum but not new to Triumph. I currently own a 06 Tiger but I am considering adding a S3.
There are a few good deals out there on 06 but I was not sure if the 07 models had anything new in comparison to last year.

Are they mechanically identical? Does the 07 have a few more horses)

2007 has 3 more HP and it is supposed to start quicker.

And a slightly different exhaust....

I'm not sure that they're radical changes, I certainly wouldn't pass up a good deal on a 06 to get a new 07.

The difference between '06 and '07 is basically the ECU. The new ECU is supposed to allow for quicker starting (about 1/2 sec before cranking instead of almost 3 sec), better fuel economy(almost 1 mpg, when ridden conservatively), and about three more peak horsepower (132 vs 129). Of course, if you're going to install different pipes, a powercommander, or tuneboy, the new ECU doesn't matter.

Also, you can't get pi$$ yellow for '07, only black, white, or puke green :-D :-D

Just for interest, the ' 07 version down here, (New Zealand) is the same 'cept for the extra exhaust shield. That is, it has the new ECU and the Roulette Green option.

After checking with all the dealers in the major cities here, it appears that the downunder version doesn't have the hotter exhaust due to no SAI, so, no extra exhaust shield required.

I'm still waiting for the ' 07 (white), I ordered, been almost 3 months. The problem it seems is getting one off a white batch at Hinckley and onto a ship. (The dealer here has been real good). Once on the ship it takes 6 weeks to get here.

I could get a black or green right now but will hang out for the white. :-D :hihi:

The exhaust on the 07 American and Euro triple has an extra catalytic converter behind that dicky looking shield. The downunder bikes (at least the Australian ones) don't have cats, so the 07 exhaust is the same as the 05-06 model.

It is true that we don't have SAI either, but I don't believe that SAI really affects exhaust temperatures too much.

The catalytic converters get really hot. Compare the temperature of the stock cans to aftermarket ones. You can get a nasty burn off the stock cans, but even after a hard ride I can easily put my hand on my Staintune pipes, with no pain at all.

Ha that's because the exhaust pop straight out in the staintune or any other straight through pipe, where as in the stock cans they have to go through a conoluted path, having time to heat up the exterior
