I seem too have lost whatever ventilation there is supposed to be in my gas tank. There it a great deal of vacuum built up even after riding 10 miles. I checked the tubes on the bottom - they are in the right position. I took apart the gas cap - nothing plugged. I figure maybe the tube that the cap connects with could be plugged somewhere inside the tank, but I didn't want to stick anything down there. Of course, I could be all wrong in my efforts. Any thoughts? :???:

Drain the tank.
Remove both lines from the bottom of the tank.
Remove the check valve in the air line - check to see that you can blow through it in one direction (towards the tank) and not in the other.
Blow through the other lines.

Report back.

Did you follow the tubes all the way down to make sure there were no kinks in them?

Dev's right - that tip-over valve's probably stuck. I had the same problem. Though I was goin' crazy.

I happened to go to the dealer today for a 2007 Tiger unveiling event (even though I had a couple of private showings earlier) and group ride afterwards. I went a few minutes early to see if the service dept could look at it. They said it was some kind of California emissions vent valve (maybe the same thing as the tip over thing). They said it was stuck, and just yanked it, figuring I wasn't too corncerned about emissions anyway, what with the oldsquid pipes and all. They did it in about ten minutes. I love this dealer. So, case solved, all under warranty, and I got to go on the ride afterall, woohoo...

I appreciate all the input. :-D

Good to hear that is it fixed.

The little vent valve can be a real pain. It's always the cheap parts that get you.
